Best Origin character(s) and romances? (without spoilers)
After finishing my first playthrough, I tried some different characters in Act 1 to see some combinations and differences as I choose different characters.
What is your opinion, which are the best Origin characters to play with (story or romance related)? What is the best "Origin couple" in your opinion?

I start to think romancing Karlach with Wyll can be very sweet, considering Karlach sees you now a hero, who breaks his promise with his patron to save her, I start to feel like it a "canon romance".
Dark Urge seems a very interesting story-wise even if you try to play good one, trying to resist the "urge".
I am not sure which origin character would be the best fit for Shadowheart, I guess it depends if you play evil or good Shadowheart can be used for both sides (maybe Astarion?).
I also think about a weird combination to play as Gale and romancing Lae'zel because you can kinda influence Lae'zel later to be less blind about her faith.

I still wait for a fix in case of romance of Minthara, or an official confirmation if her romance story got cut off or what. I think an evil Dark Urge romance with Minthara can be very fitting as well (if they give us the full romance story)

Would love to see this thread grow. I'm an Origin player myself and always hearing others thoughts on origin romance pairings.

It is an older post, but now I think a Shadowheart and Laezel romance would be a wild one.
I also heard that Laezel was supposed to be the main character of this game, so playing with her gives more content, while other origin stories felt unfinished for many players.

So I guess the best origin characters are Laezel and Dark Urge story-wise.

If BG3 was a series or an anime, I think Wyll would be the main character. He's a fallen charismatic hero with a good heart and a tragic past, complicated relationship with his father and that situation with a devil he has to solve. He's the perfect point of view character to allow the viewers to get introduced to the other characters, also having personal stakes on the story (his father is the archduke of Baldur's Gate, so if the city goes down his father dies). As for romance in a manner that feels natural, Karlach for Wyll. For sure. They even hint at it when they decide not to kill each other and after a while start seeing how they're both good people.

However, the one true "official" romance in this game for me regarding the story in general is Lae'zel. Her arc is the most involving IMO and her scenes are just great. She goes from insufferable to the my most beloved character in the game, tbh. Like someone already mentioned, she's kind of the main character in the game but not a good origin character or else you'd miss her dialogues and voice acting by having her as your voiceless protagonist. Dating her allows the player to get truly involved in her story and character progression. Devora Wilde was fantastic for her perfomance.

So honestly, for a origina character I'd either pick Wyll or Gale. My first OC was a tiefling paladin. I think I'll have Gale as a sorcerer next.
