You're the one who sounds like they are trolling, you cannot comprehend what it takes to make a game, the engine, the code, variables, arrays, entries for this/that.
"if anyone in your party has Dispel Magic you can dispel any magical thing in the game." You can't even refute this either so you called me a troll instead.
You don't even own the f ucking game either so I don't know why you are here, THAT proves you are the troll. Calling me a troll when I succeeded in my reading ability checks unlike you that not only fails these checks but lack the intellect and wisdom ability scores to comprehend what you are reading.
21 minutes in or so. Dispel Magic is dicussed in one of the chapters.
That's not even the case though.
Every other game simplified Dispel Magic due to that. On previous TT rules it could also be used for it and games decided to make a combat oriented version.
Most spells on BG3 were changed from 5E some even a lot, but changing Dispel Magic can't do. Better just remove it and lie to everyone.
This is where the gaslighting is, selectively omiting information trying to push forward your narrative leading players to question the spell and the fact that every single other game had it.
Make a simplified Dispel Magic. Everyone else did.
Oh another angsty teen that his whole existence is on Steam and doesn't know any other platform.
But completely taking it out? Not cool.
I watched this video and understood what Sven was saying. So people think Sven is gaslighting? WTF?
Please folks, give one single plausible reason Larian would not implement Dispel Magic if they didn't have a very strong reason not to, that reason being the one Sven gave in this interview. What possible motive could they have?
Just one.
Teen? Mate I'm 29 and waiting on audio files to render, been waiting all day because these are big files. My house is clean, I'm clean, it's too hot to work out right now and everything else is currently in order, trying to come at me with ad hominid attacks without knowing a single thing about me. A bloody teen, HAH! I wish I was a teenager again!
It is NOT gaslighting, you have zero proof because you don't know Absolute SH!T about engines or code. Sit down before you hurt yourself from high blood pressure.
In fact, because your so pent up about it, why do you take some action and learn to mod it in, all your angsty problems will be solved.
Even counterspell is a bit boring, IMO. Anyway, something was going to be left back with all the negation spells they had to choose from.
Here's one: They had 70 official 3rd level spells to pick from and they were only ever going to code 18 of them or something. So Dispel didn't make the cut, but several other similar effect spells did.
You might want to look back who started making personal attacks.
The proof that you refuse to accept is what has been pointed over and over again, every single game in 25 years has released a simplified Dispel Magic, but for some odd reason that's too complex for Larian and you prefer to blindly believe them.
I actually seem to know more programming than you but I'm not here to flex about it.
There are already other modders adding spells so if I care I'd lend a hand instead.
That doesn't change the fact that Larian decided not to add Dispel Magic and made excuses for it instead of just saying something like, "we didn't think it was meaningful".
Dispel Magic is actually a pretty relevant spell and without it players can buff pre-fights while AI has no tools against it.
The same happening with things like Sanctuary where Larian didn't understand the consequences of their liberty.
You were 7 when BG2 released, I can understand you not understanding the consequences of the decision, but try to think for your own head. BG and other related games were aware of this, that's why they kept it. While there are other ways to deal with spells all are for different situations.
Try to have more critical thinking instead of blindly following, it will help you in life.
I wonder sometimes if any of you guys/gals actually play D&D. That's not how and never has been how the spell works. In 5e, its use in fact is very limited. It only ends spells, active spells. That's all it does. It has no effect on magical items. The reason it works on traps, is because those are active spells, arcane locks and wards are similar. In 3.5e, dispel could temporarily suppress magic items for 1d4 rounds, that aspect was removed from the game when 5e was published. So in this case, they simply do not need to even worry about turning off magic properties from every object in the game, because that is not what the spell actually does. And the fact that you are being so obtuse and defensive about it tells me, you are not a DnD guy at all. Dispel is one of, if not thee oldest spell in the game. Its been around since the beginning. DnD without Dispel Magic is like DnD without magic missile or fireball.
Dispel Magic
3 abjuration
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 120 feet
Target: One creature, object, or magical effect within range
Components: V S
Duration: Instantaneous
Classes: Bard, Cleric, Druid, Paladin, Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard
Choose one creature, object, or magical effect within range. Any spell of 3rd level or lower on the target ends. For each spell of 4th level or higher on the target, make an ability check using your spellcasting ability. The DC equals 10 + the spell’s level. On a successful check, the spell ends.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, you automatically end the effects of a spell on the target if the spell's level is equal to or less than the level of the spell slot you used.
(But no idea why they bothered with animal speaking and handling though or some of the other stuff hardly ever used in the game... he said those were complicated too for the team)
