Orpheus or Emperor?
What would be the best decisions for my "GOOD" playthrough?

im planning on doing another one, but which would make more sense in a good run?

Emperor is definitely the villian. Guy has a good alignment dragon as a life long companion and kills him. You find notes promising that he will let the dragon end his suffering if he becomes too corrupted. Yet when the time comes he kills his closest friend. Doesnt get much more black and white then that. Lol. There is no world where the emperor would surrender the crown after defeating the netherbrain, where as the gith prince has no such temptation, even as a mindflyer himself.

The only complication is the gith are lawful evil in general, however the prince was captured early and a literal lich leads the people, so its unclear if they could be redeemed.
yeah that was depressing, i wish we could have helped the dragon or something.

If you side with Orpheus the Emperor instantly chooses to join the absolute, which is enough evidence for me to know he is weak and untrustworthy. Also him killing his best friend/lover? although his friend tried everything to cure him and get a new body, but the emperor refused because he fell in love with power and would not let it go. the Emperor is clearly a man lost to a pursuit of power beyond anything else, meanwhile Orpheus may be a bit extreme in his views on other races, he is still extremely selfless and a champion for his peoples liberation I recommend getting the orphic hammer and smash orpheus prison just to try the outcome. See how the emperor reacts.

This actually isnt true. I sided with the emporer and let him eat Orpheus and still got to destroy the Elder Brain at the end. He actually is a solid choice if you stick with him.

Emperor.

People calling Emperor "an evil character" here are same people who killed Astarion because he pointed knife at them in the begging.

But honestly, the way endings are made, and whole act 3 is made, it all doesn't matter. Will be a more interesting discussion when they drop Definite Edition. Just complete it once and forget like it was a nightmare

lol i did it with jaheira. i wiped her and her lickspittles because she was rude but in act3 it seems she is alive again. im disappointed

I wish the Emperor would stay in his Guardian form, then I would chose him, because I like to look at the pretty things and I spend hours to design that pretty thing back when the game launched.
The moment he dropped his disguise he is just more calamares for the fryer.

The emperor is a soulless monster.

to be honest the emperor isnt directly evil and seems to genuingly care of our well being but since both are mindlfayers both have to die

For a "good" playthrough I'd struggle to say either really. I'd say there's more morality in letting Orpheus out of his cage but neither the Gith or the illithid are really "good."

The big twist of the game is that there isn't really a twist. The Emperor never betrays you, he only turns against you when you turn against him first. If you side with Orpheus the Emperor has no choice but to leave at which people he'll be absorbed back into the hive mind.

I mean obvious spoilers:

For the "Best Good" ending in my opinion (I mean there is only really 2 endings anyway) Good and Bad...with just different flavors...

Freeing Orpheus, and then having him become a Mind-flayer to destroy the Netherbrain and then submitting himself to death = the Best "Good" ending.

For a few reasons.
1. The Emperor is openly selfish, a manipulator, and evil (if you learn about his interactions with the Bronze Dragon Ansur)
2. If betrayed the Emperor immediately shows their true colors, and joins the villains.
3. Orpheus's death means that the Gith will remain divided and can't unite under a single banner to invade the mortal plane...which they 100% would do, and instead are busy with a civil war in the astral plane.

I chose Orpheus in one ending but had Karlach be the mindflayer, this way no one had to die at the end.

Karlach? You know you can save her right?

Think about it: The Emperor's just yearning for validation, a way for you to show him that his soul's still intact.

That's just wrong... The Emperor is a selfish bastard. There are multiple conversations with him where he basically just says "I needed to kill him first before he/she/it killed my mindflayer ass... He is the "HERO" Balduran and also killed the Green Dragon just to save his own mindflayer ass again. Orpheus sacrifices himself like a true hero would to get rid of mindflayers including himself if you choose so.

The Emperor did lie from the begining.
And try to convince you to evolve in this monster......
He says that he is the evolution.....
HE thinks he is somethink better....

I would chose to free orph....and kill him at the end....just to be sure that will never happend again...

but all endings all bad...

I thought this too. Even if you let the Emperor wield the power in the final scene and take him on his word that he'll kill the elder brain rather than harnessing its power for himself and his ambitions he...keeps his word.

I was 100% expecting him to betray us at the end.

Orpheus is the sole reason why the Ilithid empire crumbled and the only thing that could stop the mind flayers from enslaving everyone if they ever organised again.
