Orpheus or Emperor?
What would be the best decisions for my "GOOD" playthrough?

im planning on doing another one, but which would make more sense in a good run?

For the "Best Good" ending in my opinion (I mean there is only really 2 endings anyway) Good and Bad...with just different flavors...

Freeing Orpheus, and then having him become a Mind-flayer to destroy the Netherbrain and then submitting himself to death = the Best "Good" ending.

For a few reasons.
1. The Emperor is openly selfish, a manipulator, and evil (if you learn about his interactions with the Bronze Dragon Ansur)
2. If betrayed the Emperor immediately shows their true colors, and joins the villains.
3. Orpheus's death means that the Gith will remain divided and can't unite under a single banner to invade the mortal plane...which they 100% would do, and instead are busy with a civil war in the astral plane.

I chose Orpheus in one ending but had Karlach be the mindflayer, this way no one had to die at the end.

Emperor.

People calling Emperor "an evil character" here are same people who killed Astarion because he pointed knife at them in the begging.

But honestly, the way endings are made, and whole act 3 is made, it all doesn't matter. Will be a more interesting discussion when they drop Definite Edition. Just complete it once and forget like it was a nightmare

I don't think Emperor is "Evil" but I sure do kill Astarion in every game. Though my main game I tolerated him long enough to give him over to the monster hunter. That was hilarious.
Annoy the Emperor enough, and he reveals that he is just another illithid, in the end. So much for "no they aren't inherently evil you are a bigot shut up".

Your point 3 is wrong. The reality is the gith remain under the command of a lich queen while with the prince there is a more real chance of them improving.

The question is: do you want to trust shady character or do you want to unite a race that looks down to all other races as annoying bugs?

Nah. I love Astarion, even on my good playthroughs.

I came to the decision Emperor is not the optimal "good" choice based on the fact he lies about how Ansur dies (and killed them to begin with), that he seemingly lobotomized a person to control them for his own ends, and goes full mask off and calls you a puppet for him to control if you insult or heavily distrust him.

Damn no one to be trusted in this game Vlakith, Dream Visitor and even Orpheus all evil

Btw this is heavy spoiler Act 3 player only

So conclusion is Orpheus the lesser evil than them?

Thinking back on the story, the player is constantly asked to make leaps of faith to trust the Emperor. The Emperor never reciprocates this. He gets mad at you, and complains about how you don't trust him, wah wah wah.

If the Emperor waited two damn minutes, I'm sure Orpheus could be convinced to work with him.

Emperor is definitely the villian. Guy has a good alignment dragon as a life long companion and kills him. You find notes promising that he will let the dragon end his suffering if he becomes too corrupted. Yet when the time comes he kills his closest friend. Doesnt get much more black and white then that. Lol. There is no world where the emperor would surrender the crown after defeating the netherbrain, where as the gith prince has no such temptation, even as a mindflyer himself.

The only complication is the gith are lawful evil in general, however the prince was captured early and a literal lich leads the people, so its unclear if they could be redeemed.

Most likely she will leave or attack your party if you let the emperor consume orpheus.

I mean I want to know for sure for those who go with Emperor route, since I like Lae'zel too
and plan on my 2nd run I go with Emperor (with full tadpoles consumer)

I consume 0 tadpole on this run other than the one forced on us on Nautilus

Orpheus.
He will fight vlaakith(an evil lich queen and all aroudnt ♥♥♥♥♥)
Meaby he free his people.
Meaby he will fail.
Regardless it deals with the githyanki threat for decades.
The emperor is an manipulative ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who you shoud use to gain power.
Beyond that he isnt worthy to even be spit on.
If your going pure good hate him the moment you find out he is a mind flayer and constantly resist him.

Emperor is better for the evil path.
