Orpheus in the end is just a Bit ch. We will always be lesser race for them .
He's not a straight up villain but is willing to do questionably immoral/evil things to get his way, including lying, threatening, and killing innocent people/lovers, which comes across to me as the less "good" option.
For the "Best Good" ending in my opinion (I mean there is only really 2 endings anyway) Good and Bad...with just different flavors...
Freeing Orpheus, and then having him become a Mind-flayer to destroy the Netherbrain and then submitting himself to death = the Best "Good" ending.
For a few reasons.
1. The Emperor is openly selfish, a manipulator, and evil (if you learn about his interactions with the Bronze Dragon Ansur)
2. If betrayed the Emperor immediately shows their true colors, and joins the villains.
3. Orpheus's death means that the Gith will remain divided and can't unite under a single banner to invade the mortal plane...which they 100% would do, and instead are busy with a civil war in the astral plane.
The road to hell...is paved...with mind-flayer good intentions.
And yeah Orpheus will straight up sacrifice himself to save the world.
People calling Emperor "an evil character" here are same people who killed Astarion because he pointed knife at them in the begging.
But honestly, the way endings are made, and whole act 3 is made, it all doesn't matter. Will be a more interesting discussion when they drop Definite Edition. Just complete it once and forget like it was a nightmare
