Skill checks should automatically be carried out by the most skilled character.
In BG3, whenever you accidentally trigger a cutscene that requires skill checks (such as an ambush requiring persuasion to get out of), the game makes your currently selected character do the checks.

This is terrible if you're currently controlling your 6 CHA barbarian instead of your 18 CHA bard and is encouraging savescummery, breaking immersion.

Many other games allow you to select the character to attempt skillchecks with from within dialogues, this does not seem to be the case in BG3.

How do you work around this annoying issue?

yep this game is so terribly designed im shocked it has such a high rating. literally 4/10 game tops.

I think there are far too many skill checks in the game. It takes away from the game play. I can't go a minute without having to roll a skill check. So much so that I find myself not want to play. I'll play for 30 minutes and have 30 skill checks in that time, get bored and shut down the game.

its normal for DND. but a better system is just a hard check. you need 15 CHA to fool this guy, you only have 12. auto fail. the dice rolling was cool for the first 4 minutes now its just annoying

no counter argument is even possible. everyone even agrees that e5 rules suck and people mostly play 3.5e

I disagree, I like the number of skill checks. Makes you feel as if your party composition matters as you want to cover the broadest variety of checks possible. My only issue is with the interface.
