Creating your own party.
I thought I had read that you would be able to create a full party of your own characters (like the old BG games) Am I mistaken?

For the time being, yes, you're mistaken. What you *can* do is use a character that appears in your camp to recruit non-origin characters to fill out your party. Then use the respec option to make them what you want, excepting that you can't change their race. Between the origin and optional characters, I think all the bases are covered for combination purposes (but if you use the origin characters you'll still be subjected to the game's writing for them).

The feature does not exist (yet). Until then you can help yourself either with hirelings, which are not 100% custom, or with this workaround

I myself enjoy games with 2-3 custom characters, having one slot reserved for NPC companion.

The only work arounds i have seen is an expensive route, provided your computer can handle multiple instances of the game, OR having friends that play the game help you out and make the characters to you desired request.

1) Create multiple steam accounts (Accounts must be made for each member of the party)
2) Buy BG3 again for each account. (pending your desired party size determines the number of times you need to buy the game or it could be possible to family share it)
3) Open multiple instances of the game and have all accounts join a multiplayer lobby by Direct Connect.

Or
1) Ask friends for help (1 friend per member of the party of course)
2) You take notes to give each friend of the requested details of each character. (stats & appearence)
3) Enjoy the game at your own pace with your own party.

Do keep in mind that for some instances you benefit more from having a companion with you for first hand encounters/dialogue options. So if you follow either of the above routes, make 3 characters and always swap out the 4th member for the needed NPC (helps keep the quest xp coming and more consistent)

I wish I were. I've seen 2 articles related to the subject on it specifically because making our own customizable party isn't a thing yet.

This is absolutely incorrect. You can easily create your own customized party without additional accounts (lol?) by first closing Steam, opening the BG exe, start a mutiplayer game, and then start three more instances of the BG exe. Proceed through character generation with all and then save on the main character. Close all instances, restart Steam, and you have a fully customized party. Very easy to do, might want to reduce fps though.

That's tedious and not worth your money.

Didn't know about this one. I've only read about the other two from articles that pop up related to BG3 on my phone lol
Larian lied.
