Defeating Grym 'without using the hammer.'

Appears it's genuinely possible, one receives a feat as reward - best all, the high nuisance, lava mephits, don't show up. Sure, weak however they spell half the group. Then, only 2 characters are left to deal with Grym, and the mephits.
What did I do? Suspect someone else must have done the same.
Simply, used the 'devil' lady, had her use good hammer, buffed her - kept healing her, and made certain, one of the characters kept firing at the lave lever - as necessary.
Not easy to get him this way, required several tries.
But it worked - in the end I reckon this, the easist solution.

Grym is easy to kite. You'll need to play with his aggro to keep him split as you pump lava.

Yes isnt hard, Paladin as custom char tanking with hammer Karlack with hammers aswell with shadowhearth healing with Wizzard buffing and teleporting arround

you can just keep him where he spawns and just beat him down there

Not even that, just misty step up to the steps. I left 3 down, had the third misty step up. Shoot valve when needed elsewise just shoot it down.

It's fairly easy if your party is adequate for it. I did it with my Monk and Karlach, basically.

If you're ever curious, just right click a bad guy and Examine them. You can see all their strengths, weaknesses, and vulnerabilities.

I just kinda attacked him until he died just made sure to kite him around and he was a joke, hammer is definitely not needed if you position properly.

I had barely a plan for the fight, I just bludgeoned him to death, died super easy as he's super weak to bludgeoning, only found out later you could use the hammer when the achievement popped.

I beat him in two rounds by being level 5 or 6, with my PC (paladin/fighter), Karlach (barb/fighter), Lae'zel (fighter) and SH (life domain), having colossus elixirs on PC and karlach, everyone equipped with hammers, flails and maces, and attacking Gyrm with my tank last. Beat him up where he spawned, didn't even know he could summon minions.

My party killed this golem in 2 turns, right on the spot he first appeared, and Shadowheart actually skipped her turn because she was on the Lever duty. No Mephits spawned. Got the achievement right away.
Lae’zel + potion of speed = dead golem. Not sure if it would be that easy on tactician diff, though. I play on balanced.
