And either way, I do not want an optimized build, I roleplay, and that's why I presented three of those specific invocations.
IIRC that slow is once per long rest? I personally try to avoid those things as warlock tbh, especially if the spell comes down to a single saving throw. You're sacrificing a lot of utility from another invocation for an ability that an enemy might just shrug off.
On a character with a ton of spells and spell slots, it's not a big deal, but an a warlock it feels pretty bad :P
On the other hand, It IS powerful, so if it works - oh it'll be great.
I see things like that as Emergency Button.
Also, it's not Long Rest, it's just a Spell Slot.
Mire the mind is one of the options that give you a specific spell. Slow is not bad, but I did not pick an invocation of this kind. After all, I do get spells myself, and I can use the scrolls. So I have access to the spell anyway. But I cannot get the blast enhancers anywhere else.
While you can talk with animals, most of them have nothing much to say. It isn't an important ability.
I guess it all always comes down to Eldritch Blast, eh?
The blast is always there, so I am free to look for control and utility options.
