Help choose Invocation
Hit Level 5 and can't decide between Mire of the Mind, Beast Speech and Repelling Blast.
First two fit my character more in-character and stuff, since a lot of it is about Debuffing/Cursing and doing Mind Tricks, alongside Detect Thoughts and Speak with the Dead.
However, I dunno how useful/interesting ultimately Beast Speech would be, plus Karlach has it already (granted, she ain't gonna always be in the party).
I dunno how effective Repelling Blast would be for Pushing, since enemies aren't always gonna be near cliffs for fall damage/death, and usually no need to push others from me cuz always far away.
Mire of the Mind feels most useful, but at the same time - kinda boring and only Combat Focused.

Yeah but it's for Wyll still.
And either way, I do not want an optimized build, I roleplay, and that's why I presented three of those specific invocations.

Its a generic build guide.. Works for all warlocks.
Repelling blast 100%

I guess that makes sense. But what about being able to cast Slow? Sure, I can pick it just as a new spell, but there are other spells to pick too, like I'm choosing Fear right now (because it's in character).

IIRC that slow is once per long rest? I personally try to avoid those things as warlock tbh, especially if the spell comes down to a single saving throw. You're sacrificing a lot of utility from another invocation for an ability that an enemy might just shrug off.
On a character with a ton of spells and spell slots, it's not a big deal, but an a warlock it feels pretty bad :P

I can see that.
On the other hand, It IS powerful, so if it works - oh it'll be great.
I see things like that as Emergency Button.
Also, it's not Long Rest, it's just a Spell Slot.

The talk-to-animals potion lasts till the next long rest, it is a solid option. I picked ritual caster as a feat and got it permanently from there (plus longstrider). But the repelling blast is the best option for an invocation, and it can be toggled on/off if not wanted.

Mire the mind is one of the options that give you a specific spell. Slow is not bad, but I did not pick an invocation of this kind. After all, I do get spells myself, and I can use the scrolls. So I have access to the spell anyway. But I cannot get the blast enhancers anywhere else.

While you can talk with animals, most of them have nothing much to say. It isn't an important ability.

Okay, good point.
I guess it all always comes down to Eldritch Blast, eh?

It is the main weapon and tool of the warlock after all. I took it as a given and was looking around what I can get to round out my other options. Potions (for throwing), special arrows (don't forget a missile wepon for them), scrolls, and items with spells on them are what I was after.
The blast is always there, so I am free to look for control and utility options.
