The Astral Plane Fight is redoncules.
I had to turn down the difficulty just to finish it. The amount of hits and constant 1 hits they do is stupid OP. I stayed up till 6 am after work reloading and retrying the fight with the lord of death and got more than 4 turns in before full death. Inb4 the supreme emperor (a title you all hold at the same time) of virgins/sweats saying get gud or some stupid "THEY'RE THE ELITE GUARD" don't waste your time here replying and get back to your video game. Great game tho. That fight just seriously made me want to tear out my hair and drink my self to death. I'm just here to QQ about it and say ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that fight could be slightly nerfed. I own BG 1-2 on disc with expansions and never experienced this kind of frustration on those games. I get it but without prior warning or ability to full rest after escaping the ugly little grimlins it's a pain in the arse.

What exactly are you having issues with? Is it AoEs, saving throws, damage?
Kraig Aug 19, 2023 @ 12:49am
Is that the one with all the skeletons? Those are the kind of fights you drink all your potions, coat your weapons and bust out your scrolls. There are a few fights like this and if you are hoarding your consumables, stop. Use your best ones and don't worry about saving them for later fights. The fights actually get easier as your level up. The hardest fights are in the level 4-8 zone imo.

Try reducing difficulty?
I mean, all you actually need to do is let nightsong do the fighting while covering in fear somewhere occasionally taking hits to take heat from nightsong.
If you chose to not have nightsong on your side, well then you must be skilled enough for making that choice.

Without giving spoils to the public I'm talking about the fight where you choose to side with "the emperor" or the prince.

Against gith monks? Come on, the emperor kills everybody on his own there. Just don't die is good enough.

I agree with you and I do normally use them and still had an issue. Gave both melee characters I have in my party size increase elixirs and spammed hold person. Those monks just succeed saving throws on almost everything but the grown melee buff hits. I couldn't get closer any other way given my current resources and party. I just didn't want to stay up another 6 hours reloading and retrying again on another fight that was failed within 4 turns every single time. They have so many turns to hit in one go especially the AoE that can and does insta kill or take most health away from multiple members. You start the fight with everyone basically being near each other as well and there isn't much to do environmental wise other than hopefully pushing them off if they're positioned near one luckily.

Yeah I got that.
You're basically fighting Monks, right? Right at the beginning of Act 3?

As a general random tip I could just tell you to space-out your characters to not get hit by AoEs, but I don't remember that fight as being overtly difficult.
Maybe I just got lucky.

What are you struggling with? Are you buffing your party before the fight ( Bless, Haste... )? Are you using summons?

The emperor is useless on that fight UNLESS you use the easiest mode. He misses everything otherwise due to the obvious +1000 on saving throws for them grimlin looking freaks. Good joke attempt tho my friend.

I'm serious tough. And no, I've already finished the game on tactitian. Not sure you actually spent 6 hours on this fight. If anything, take sanctuary on your cleric and just wait the fight out.

The issue with that is your starting position even if you stealth it seems to just cut to dialogue and you're all grouped together pretty close in that narrow entrance pathway.

Oh yeah I remember that fight now. It was the fight that made me take a second look at the monk class because I got hit with the resonating strike and was like WTF was that?! I had to reload once because I didn't buff and took them lightly.

But yeah, Elixir of Psychic/All Resist, Drow poison, Level 4 Aid spell, Haste and focus fire made the fight pretty easy.

I didn't spend 6 hours on this fight I was talking about Ketheric. I was saying I retried that fight multiple times (phase 2 mostly) with more turns in comparison to this one and kept failing until my stubborn arse won. This one on the other hand I just couldn't let my stubborn mindset win because it was every reload I died so fast.

skill issue tbh. I found it pretty easy even in tactician. party was level 9.
