Temple of Selune shining ray of light on pedestal
In the Temple of Selune under the goblin fortress, there is a large statue of Selune with a moonbeam shining down onto a pedestal. a pedstal that is the perfect size for the Idol of Selune... but it does nothing. Does anybody know if there is something you can put on the pedestal in the moonbeam that does anything?

Are you talking about the Moon Door puzzle?

You have to rotate the four circles until all the black circles are on the bottom.

Else, what you might be referring to is just an aesthetic.

Pretty sure he means the power stones for the statues that nuke the minotaur outside the selunite temple gates

he is. it has a visual effect of a beam of light shining down onto a alter below it. Like you would put something you find in the ruins to stop it. Never really thought about it though just blast crystal and move on.

Yeah, ^ this. I thought for sure the idol of Selune would properly deactivate the crystals and open the door for you. I'm still pretty sure there is SOME object you can put on the pedestal to get that to work. I tried the idol, the greatsword nearby, a bar of silver... nada. Seems wrong to have to brute force your way through that.
Oh, and what does the Selunite key you find on the skeleton on top of the gate there open... if not the gate? the nearby chests? (don't know because I picked them on the way down).

I mean for most of my time in the under dark I never even touched that crystal and just went around the gates. You don't HAVE too brute force your way through it lol

Hmm. maybe it's supposed to be the staff of the moonmaiden? but you find that AFTER you would have to deal with the moonbeams coming the other way. huh.

turns out you get 30xp for shooting the main crystal with an arrow, so it's clearly something they thought about.

oh, and it also turns out that in Early Access, the moon staff DID disable the beams, but not in the full release version. weird.

You can def get the staff without deactivating the beam, but id it doesnt work anymore thats too bad

FYI to everyone here. You don't have to destroy the crystal to get in/out of the gates. You can shoot the statues' eyes with an arrow or cantrip to temporarily disable them. They will shoot 3 radiant missiles in random directions along the bridge and then be deactivated for 1 turn. It's best to do this in turn based mode to help you make sure you don't get hit. You will know they are deactivated when the glowing blue eyes go dark.

It's a really nice feature, especially if you wanted to RP a worshiper of Selune. It's also super helpful in defeating the other two minotaurs, and has potential to hit the spectator if you can lure it over through the gate.
