What does charisma do and why is it on paladin and bard?
I know why its used for warlock later with spells but when does charisma start coming into play for bard and paladin? What spells and moves are benefiting from it I dont understand?

EXAMPLE
I noticed that when i hover these main stats it says what classes its for but not why its for them like for instance clerics use alot of spells that require CON but for some reason it says a clerics main stat is WIS which i thought was a purely defensive stat just used to make saving throws against most spells. Should i be trusting the main stat description more than the spell description?

Each class has a stat tied to their spellcasting power and dc, as well as saving throws that they're good at.

Yes. It is class based.

Clerics don't use con for spells, but they have concentration spells, I think that's where there's confusion.

Umm... From the start?

Bards don't use intelligence to cast spells, they use charisma. Their charisma bonus determines the difficulty of resisting their spells and the accuracy of their damage spells.

With Paladins, Charisma is also their casting stat if they choose to cast offensive spells. Command is harder to resist with higher charisma. So Is compelled duel

It determines your spell attack bonus and you spell save DC. In otherwords, your spells will hit more often and be harder to resist, the higher the charisma

I think it affects paladin auras too

Spellcasting stat = Charisma.

So pally bonks with Strength and Abra Kadabras with Chr.

Bards, although CAN use Str to bonk, often pew pew or shling with Dex.

Both are "hybrid" classes. Similar to Ranger and Monk, who're hybrids of Wisdom.

If you want to be a spellslinging pally, go over 16 (+3) charisma, else 16 is a good softcap.
Honestly, Paladins should have been Str/Wis based and Warlocks should have been Int based and Sorcerers should have been Con based.

Charisma pulling double duty as how hot your are and as a measure of your inner strength and force of will was always a bit goofy.

Divine Smite is affected by CHA

yeah I can't argue it as it does seem silly.

Always felt it fit for Bards, and sorta for Paladins with the whole (I am the LEADER sterotype) but Wis always made more sense to me like Clerics.

Sors though...Should've been Con based.

I think it's time to take a break from the internet if your patience is running low. Go and recharge it.

Teach a man to fish, don't admonish the man for not having knowledge. You too were once ignorant of things and required someone to teach you.

So is this decided by class? Because when i hover the spells it doesnt say that. So are the bonuses tied to the classes rather than the spells?

It's unintiutive for the uninitiated but spells force saves of all sorts from their targets but the DC is always based around the caster's main stat (plus some other stuff like proficiency).
