Need more combat
I really like this game. BG3 is very fun. Ignoring the political stuff, I have a huge issue with the game:

There isn't enough combat.

Most combat can be avoided (I obviously almost always choose to go through with fighting options because I want to play the game, not watch a point and click cinematic simulator).

When there is combat - if you've built your characters correctly - it is incredibly short. Most of your aoes and//or scrolls are enough to deal with the chaff and your heavy hitters can usually one (or 2) shot bigger non-boss entities).

Mind you,
I have not yet reached ACT III and I can't defend nor attack this part of the content, but so far I feel a lack of doing things.

It may just be a 'me issue', but I find I spend most of my time going through one of my companions main character interactions (which is all about them and their importance), or I'm sitting at the vendor slowly selling off "bits 'n' bobs".

Feel free to tell me I am wrong. I'm open to suggestions to help me enjoy this game more.

as stated in the post, I clearly mentioned that I choose not to avoid. I like the game.
Please do not act like I do not.

It's not the number of fights, it's moreso an issue of how difficult the fights are. I was hoping i'd really need to THROW myself at tactician and try most fights multiple times before beating them, but I haven't had a character be downed since act 1.

Plis larian make the fights harder, a *lot* harder.

I mean, you still point and click, in or out of combat! But yeah it is a character and narrative driven game, which Larian is known for, and DnD in general, the adventure is what it's all about. I would check out WoTC which has a lot more murder-hobo adventures, but still a narrative driven game.

This isn't the game for you then

You are 100% right.

Praesi said it best. Combat is my favourite and most important element in this game too, but the focus is clearly not there. They chose 5e, and 5e's focus is story telling and roleplaying. The rules convey that and the homebrew community for that system conveys that too. I would enjoy more a meat-grinder adventure with megadungeons as well, but this game is just not it, and I greatly enjoy it for what it is.

That's just funny , the D&D game was basically sprung from a tactical monster battle game when Gygax made it , D&D has always been about killing monsters and killing more monsters , it has been somewhat refined over the years but It's roots is still there , you still play the game on a tactical battlemap for the most part and combat has ALWAYS been it's main focus and still is even thou they created the heavily nerfed 5e system without rules for almost everything ! If you wan't to roleplay there are better games out there :)

"Needs more combat"

You CAN kill every NPC in the game. How much more combat do you want?

but I can't kill the kids :( :( :(

but seriously: While that is possible, that's not exactly the intended purpose of the game.
As fun as it is to murder all the folks, it feels like I'm forcing the game to play a way it doesn't want to.

I do fight as often as possible, even when it upsets my degenerate companions.
