Free Shadowheart

This should be a rather easy puzzle to solve. In fact, I did solve it but not consistently. My first character found everything he needed to free Shadowheart on that dead thrall back by that chest behind the pod. I'm sure you know which one I meant. The thrall in the front of the room was empty. I never noticed the elaborate chest in the room with Shadowheart.

Now with this second character, ,both thralls and that large chest were empty. I did notice that small elaborate chest in the room with Shadowheart, but it was locked. So I quit and came back later.

When I came back I rechecked the thralls and the large chest. The thrall in the back of the room was still empty as was the large chest. But the thrall in the front of the room now had a key. Used the key to open that elaborate chest. It contained some gold and an onyx rock. that's it. So I still dont have the special rune to open Shadowhearts pod though I've looked in what seems to be all the correct places. And things that seem to be needed sometimes appear and sometimes don't (like that darn key).

Seems like this is some type of bug.
