do you by chance know if I could delay that discussion with Gale (its only in his list of topics if you talk to him at camp) and possibly get another scene with him or is that ship sailed?
The romance writing in the game is sadly very weird. The devs told before the release about something like that you can switch romances by ending one and starting another, but in practice, it simply doesn't work. The game railroads you into choosing a romance and sticking to it, because once the dialogue options, nearly all of which happen pretty early in the game, are done, you can't get the romance back on track ever again, no matter how much the character adores you. So if you decided to stick with Laezel in Act 1 and then broke up in Act 2, you can't romance Shadowheart anymore, if you had a talk about that already in Act 1, which didn't result in a romance.
Karlach is even worse. Unless you give her "engine" the first upgrade in Act 1, you are completely locked from her romance, even if you give her both upgrades in Act 2.
It's really needs a lot of polish. Romance in the game is broken, so better just pick your target, reject everyone else, and don't try to "play around", until the devs do something about it...
With Shadowheart or Astarion you can be somewhat polyamorous, but you can only choose one of them
so it can even become more than two fighting over you? I have to agree, these kind of decisions come too early on game, I would love to see a bit more of character development to see what I am getting into.
yeah that is basically what I wonder, if there'll even be more romance options or not, so you can switch or choose from later on. I kinda liked Wyll at first, but he's a bit... too romantic and not as interesting as I thought at first. Astarion could make for a great character development, just as Shadowheart and Karlach is so funny and sweet, you just have to love her. Gale could be... very annoying as he has the tendency too so far, or let his attitude drop somewhat and show his real character along the way.
and are you happy with the storytelling?
