spoiler question about Scratch the dog.
When I summon him as a familiar, if he's summoned and dies , is he dead dead?

No, he's summon. Summons can't die.

Like haunter said above, treat summoned scratch and scratch at camp as two different entities. You can send the familiar version to its death as many times as you want and he'll still be in your camp waiting for pets as usual.
