Phase Spiders question
Why can they jaunt while Ensnared?
Shouldn't something which hinders movement stop them from phasing around?
Or am I wrong here?

Maybe they phase their own mass only leaving the snare behind.

you can misty step whilst ensnared as well
its because the entire person is being teleported

Are they called jump spiders or phase spiders ? They can phase through it.

Same reason you can misty step while snared, magic baby.

Why would having hindered movement mean you can't use a teleportation ability? Makes zero sense.

That's a good question - I'm not certain, they have the Ethereal Jaunt ability where they shift back and forth from the ethereal plane so that might be why they aren't prone to ensnare while phasing.

Just a guess.

If I could offer a word of advice, when I fought the spider boss I hid and waited for it to run across webbing... I then used Gale to shoot a fireball and burn the webbing. Boss fell and lost 1/3rd HP. On the next turn, it phased to another webbing and I burnt that one down and it fell and lost another 1/3rd HP. It sure helped that fight to be much easier.

Honestly this is the answer to OP's question.

Phase spiders jump around by actually changing which plane they're on. Trapping them requires special stuff that works across planes.

Following dota logic. Roots prevents teleportations in that game.

In what game? I can't think of any D&D game where being rooted meant you couldn't teleport. And phasing is different than teleporting anyway, I was just making a point. When something is out of phase, it means it can't be affected by anything in phase, so any physical or magical effects in one phase would immediately be rendered inert upon phasing, and that is why you can't pin down a phase spider.
