Changing Race

Anyone else regret the race they chose at the beginning? I picked Human and I find myself wanting to change but too far in to start over (in the underdark). I know I will be doing multiple playthroughs but wish I picked a race more interesting. Just curious if anyone else has regrets.

Nah. The first character is made to look like me, and I choose dialogue options I would actually choose.

Yeah, I figured it was a me problem. I always do this with RPG's. I spend too much time in the character creation screen and then regret my choices the whole game. At least this game has great replayability so I can comeback and try something different.

Spell of shapeshifting. It also allows you to use racially restricted weapons and get into restricted spaces.

I have the helmet and used it a few times but just wish I didn't pick human. Oh well, I'll get over it.

i totally have a case of 'restartitis' i always do. Also because I'd love to play this game multiplayer but started it singleplayer.

However in your case, the underdark is really quite early in the game and i suggest that if you want to reroll? Do so asap, youll find it really doesnt take long to get there once you 'know the early stuff'

Nah, I started with human druid, because it seemed a solid, more neutral perspective to assess the various reactivity against should I pick something else on another playthrough.

I did not regret it and will not regret it. Simply because I disregarded all gameplay aspects related to that and picked what I like, what race I want to be, independent from the benefits and disadvantages. I even skilled my character accordingly with flaws, where most gamers would scream in agony if they see my unoptimised character with practically useless spells.

But it is my character, and it feels right.

For having a more interesting race/playthrough I strongly recommend my current experience with The Dark Urge and Drow fighter. With her the anti-hero story feels incredible fitting, not even Tiefling can hold up a candle to that.

I plan on doing the dark urge but it’ll be my 3rd or 4th play through. I’m just very indecisive when it comes to games and can never be happy with my choice.

Yeah I’m still on the fence but need to make my decision soon before I get too far. I just really find playing as a human unsatisfying. I’m looking at the other races and feel like there so much lore there I’m missing out on.
