[Question] Break Chest = Destroy Loot?
Hello,

In DoS2, destroying a chest could destroy the loot inside.
Is it also the case in BG3? Or does the loot stay intact?

Thanks for your help :)

Have not noticed loot being destroyed.

Thansk for your answer.

How do you know loot wasn't destroyed?
Let's say you destroy a chest and it drops 1 magic weapon.
You can think no loot was destroyed.
But maybe there was a potion and a scroll, on top of the weapon, inside the chest?

you can pick the chest open, look at the items, then destroy it after and see if its the same items

You can just test it yourself. Save before you destroy the chest.
I always got loot when destroying the chest so far, but I remember there was a game with a chance for some of the loot being destroyed too.
I don't know if that was BG3 or a different game, or the beta maybe.

It doesn't get destoryed. BUUUUUUUUUUUUT, loot can clip through the floor,
Like I destoryed a chest items were on the ground, I picked up one item and the rest of the items fell through the ground which I had to reload my save...

Wow, wouldn't have thought about floor clipping.
Did you experience this multiple times? Is it frequent?
Or was it a one time bug?

I've broken the chest reloaded and lockpicked the chest, no difference in loot that I've found.

Thanks Doomvora for this precision.
Very interesting, I won't have to picklock every container now. :)

happened couple of times, not always, It's physics as you can see the pieces of the chest push the items through the floor.
