It was not Baldurs Gate, it started the kidnapping before the Gith arrived and only ran away after they did, it did not transform anyone mid combat or pre combat, only taken away to be implanted with a tadpole, one ship because it is a routine kidnapping run, and one ship because an unprepared city cant do ♥♥♥♥ about even a single Nautiloid anyway.

There was dead mindflayers before the combat. The main one passes some on the way out of the chamber. I just assumed they where killed trying to capture the Githyanki that Lae'zel was a part of and that the other party was sent to finish the job.
