Gale's condition and Magic Item hoarding
Do I need to keep every magic item I find to feed the excess ones to Gale, or does his condition eventually stop requiring them? I'm thinking of renting a mule just to hold all the stuff I only keep around for when Gale gets "hungry".

Only give him an item when he tells you that he needs one, and only give him one at that time. If you feed him items just because the option to do so is on his dialogue, you'll end up using a lot more than needed.
