Is Shadow Blade Bugged???

I was really excited when Arabella side quest gave me this ring. I wasn’t expecting anything but hopefully a good outcome for my lil Tiefling friend.

I was reading the in-game description for Shadow Blade the spell embedded in the ring. I figured I would cast the spell to summon the blade so I would have it equipped. Once initiative was rolled, the sword disappeared and my weapons were swapped from Shadowblade + Dagger to a Staff. I didn’t swap it and I checked my inventory and it wasn’t in there any more either.

Do you have to cast the spell during combat? Does initiative break the concentration for shadowblade because that seems counterintuitive with how hex and hunter’s mark work?

Anyone else use this item and weapon and have seen something similar?

I have a simillar issue with my warlock. I Summonned the Shadow Blade, then bound it as my pact weapon (a warlock feature) and equipped an offhand weapon (a dagger). As soon, as initiative was rolled into a combat, the dagger I had as an offhand weapon swapped to a primary slot, and the Shadow Blade disappeared. No shadowblade in my inventory either.

Either the description is misleading, or it is a bug that prevents us from building into this weapon.

Some more testing: After I unequipped my main hand weapon prior to summoning the shadowblade, then summoning it and equipping an offhand, the first round of combat went with the Shadowblade equipped and dealing damage as expected. In the second roud however - it is gone again and the offhand weapon hopped into a primary slot.

My money is on the "bugged" in light of the above.
