Its a budget card, theres not many games in the past 5 years a 3060 will run at 4k. Its faaaaar too weak.
Edit: a quick google search shows the 3060 can do a 4k image so my bet is on your monitor can't support a resolution that high or you have a cable that cannot support the data speeds needed for the resolution
A 3060 can actually run 4k but its dependent on a few things;
- Which model of GPU you are running i.e most 3060s can't but the Twin Edge 3060 can.
- Which game you're playing, some games are more strenuous than others and lack the full range of 4k support, making it easier for higher end cards but not low end. This doesn't account for your performance hit though.
- "Which game" extended; The 3060 can handle entry level 4k games, but not high end. The performance bricks the chipset and the bus exchange bit rate isn't good enough to accommodate data transfer for memory in most cases but again depends on the game. In other words; it can but its weak.
- Do you have a 4k monitor. If you don't, most games won't even give you the option because its tethered to window's maximum resolution determined by your card. You can force it but the results won't be great.
You can also do a "fake" 4k where DLSS upscales 1440p to 4k. Its not just true 4k, and you may see a performance hit.
Yeah. The RTX 3060ti OC, is only about 2 - 4 % below the performance of the RTX 3070.
And the OP is not going to get to play the game at 4k while using a monitor which only supports up to 1080p resolution.
Yep, just stuck at good ole 1080p, at least 1080p monitors can support 120hz/144hz which is nice.
I miss the days of CRT monitors (the big ones), used to be able to force 4k on them with no constraints or visual breaks. Still wasn't true 4k but was fun. Buggers were heavy though good lord.
I've got a 2080 super and run 1440p without issue just fyi
