How?

Trying to get that fire sword at the beginning, how do you use the explosive barrels? no way to grave them... how can you use that command drop thing? how do you prepare? learn it etc? help...

Hey,

So first off, to answer your question about the exploding barrels. Just use a fire cantrip on them. I think shadowheart has one. Now, how to drop the barrels you already have picked up. There isnt a command drop, which confused me at first too. All you have to do is open up your inventory with 'I' and you just drag and drop it to where you want it on the floor. There is a range so dont expect to be placing it too far without actually throwing them.

The easiest way ive found to kill the devil in the tutorial so far is to save all of your spells slots for him. Try to take out the imps and adds quick. Then just use your party to focus him down along side the mindflayer.

You can just work towards the helm and leave one character there to trigger the escape. Then you gang up on the devil, who should be pretty much down from the mindflayer by now. When I went for the sword, he even got the last hit on him, but turned hostile afterwards (hence having someone on the helm).
If both have whittled each other down until one kills the other, getting the sword is easy.

use the Mindflayer as damage buff him/heal him distract the two adds that come through around 4-5th round. If you can debuff Commander Zhalk.

before you enter the fight.. press inventory on the cleric ShadowHeart.. set up the spell called.. COMMAND on your spellbook .. this prepares it for battle. when Shadowheart gets close enuff to the commander with the flaming sword.. use the command spell and select the one that commands it to DROP.. it will be forced to drop its weapon if the spell is successful.. have your main character pick up the flaming sword.. and Viola !

hope this helps you all ! you can F5 to quicksave before you cast.. in the off chance luck makes the devil resist your command so you can try again

Didnt know command was that early on.
You basically make the commander lose all his dps doing that if it succeeds just remember to pick up his sword before his turn after or he will pick it back up.

Shadowheart can give the Mindflayer 2 more AC to try and survive for longer. Having the brain follower can help with the damage output + tanking shots from reinforcements.

I'm on the middle difficulty, Tactician the multiplayer game I'm doing we couldn't manage it.

Save all spells for the boss, recruit us, lae’zel, shadow heart, buff mindflayer and go all out on the commander

The two cambion adds come in at round 5-6 (edit: realized i was reading the countdown timer backward... oops), the adds at the helm don't spawn till you get past a certain point on the map. Unless you are extremely unlucky, you can usually kill him without even using the barrels. One time my turn order ended up with the mind flayer dude actually going before Shadowheart. He stunned the devil on his first hit and Shadowheart got a critical hit with a the guiding bolt, and then my half-orc rogue got a crit with a ranged attack. Took him down to half health on turn 1, lol. The stars aligned for that battle to be sure!

you don't need to. just heal the mind flayer once or twice and stand in a circle around him attacking him every turn. he will never target one of your party members. the mind flayer will turn on you when you kill zhalk so that's the only danger really. sacred flame will be shadowhearts best attack on him.
