Counterspell wish?
at some point an npc can cast WISH and they specifically say "for your end"
I had counterspell, and a spellslot, where's my roll? >:(

Unless you had a 9th level spellslot to upcast counterspell theres no way to counterspell wish

you'd have to roll a 19 to counter it, but it's still possible

Counterspell has a range of 60 ft. The character casting wish is significantly farther than 60ft away.

It's likely that the NPC in question has something similar to Limited Magic Immunity, much like Tiamat, or Dread Counterspell, like Vecna ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You saw a projection of vlaakith. She wasn't physically there. You can't counterspell something when the caster is more than 60ft away.

People act like that was the actual physical vlaakith going out of her way to meet you in person. Yeah. No.

I reckon its moreso some form of project image, perhaps a homebrew upcast version that has no range limits.

well.. to counter spells the target need to be casting spell first and within range.

then also it won't work if it is their own ability instead of spell. you can't counterspell character ability even it sound magical. like Vecna's ability, dragon's fire breathing.

and then there are also epic spells that go beyond level 9. in lore there are used to be god like level magic but then Mystra banned it after the event of Karsus's Folly (yep that event mentioned by Gale)

but this restriction only apply to mortal (aka player). god (DM) can ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it out and access it anytime they want if need to lol

The ironic thing is that if the PC's ever tried to use a Wish spell the way Vlaakith used it, the DM would lawyer up and try to use their wording to punish them for it.

True, the Queen most likely would be teleported to a time after the death of the main characters, effectively removing the Queen from the campaign.

Because it's just a railroad mechanic. Was pretty much the exact moment I stopped caring about the plot.

Do you think Vlaakith would be a player character?
