Help! Killing Oliver break a quest in Act 2
When I first got into the shadow forest in Act 2 I explored and found Oliver. I did the fight and killed everyone. Even Oliver, I think. Fast forward and I help Halsin with the port and get Thaniel. I’m tasked to go find Oliver but when I go to the house he isn’t there. Nor is there an option to tell Halsin about my encounter with Oliver. Please help! Idk what to do or where to go! Did I ruin my chance of lifting the curse?

if you murder hobo the child spirit then, i dont think you can finish the quest.

If you killed the boy, then yes.

His body isn’t there which is weird since every other enemy’s corpse since Act 1 is still around

Same situation. So does this mean no Halsin in Act 3?

This might be considered a bug and be fixed. The quest hasn't updated and it should, to say Thaniel's shadow couldn't be found. Instead it's sitting there in my quest list and there's even a quest marker at the house.

Probably. Since the boy is one half of a spirit, the missing body is not that unusual. And even if there was one, it would not help you either.

I've met such a guy in the forest earlier. Could it be him?
Yes that is likely him, take me to him.
Ah you see i already killed him and placed his head on a pike beside the mutilated bodies there. The latter was not done by me but by Oliver, so i figured....
Halsim...[facepalm]

(And this is why folks you dont go murderhobo in a game where most of the quest dont tell you a pretty penny about what you are expected to do!:P)

You didn't break the quest. You performed an action and you getting locked out of a quest line is a consequence of that action.
Now if it somehow stopped you from finishing the game then yeah you can say it's "broken."

Why has the quest not updated to say that the shadow can’t be found?

If I lose Halsin either way that’s fine and I accept that but at the moment this seems like the same as the Auntie Ethel quest that isn’t updating properly.

It is a little harsh to lock a whole character out because of something which so easily could be done by accident but one of my characters is also ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by permanent attribute reduction so Larian don’t play.

I'd agree with you if there wasn't a unique dialogue option that Halsin has if you do kill Oliver before completing his portal quest.
Said dialogue option should allow you to finish the questline, but alas, it doesn't seem to be working at the moment.

Same situation here, you'll lose Halsin and the devs did not account for Oliver being dead. Halsin carried his corpse in his inventory for most if act 2, and when spoken to insisted we go find oliver...

I found a solution. If put Halsin in your party while you go look for Oliver he will automatically pop up at his normal location and open the portal to initiate the combat sequence.

This isnt working for me :zagcry: Boy is just gone, maybe because I picked up his body or something?

its okay. go back to halsin and tell him the boy died to your hands. he will laugh and tell you how the boy is immortal or whatever, and send you back there. the boy will have reappeared at that point.

In my playthrough, I simply played hide-and-seek with the boy, as requested, while I was exploring the map.

I lagged behind in the quest progress of Haldin and Thaniel, so I went through it with Oliver, failed the hide-and-seek (found him once, but triggered a battle soon after), smited the boys' parents, and dog, but saving Oliver.

Now, Oliver is alive but stands here with no dialogue, whatsoever, now that I've learned about Haldin and Thaniel's quest tie-in. I have brought Haldin and there is no way to progress forward from this point.
