Can't Use Bonus Actions?

DnD noob here, so I may be missing something, but I just long rested with my party and none of them have any bonus actions available now. Every bonus action is grayed out on every character.

And am I correct in understanding that you need to rest to restore spell slots, which means, if I want full spellcasting abilities, I'm basically going to have to rest after every two or three battles (at least at these low levels). That seems... stupid.

I'm very confused, since I'm coming from Divinity, where AP was very clear and spells recharged outside of combat without this whole resting system. This system feels... quite muddy and clunky, by comparison, and I feel like I never quite know what I can and can't do in combat.

Bonus actions are a distinct thing in the action economy.

You get one action, one bonus action, and one reaction every round. If you hover over the spell, it will tell you which type of thing it takes.

Yes, I understand. They are two distinct categories of action.

What I'm saying is, I can't access any bonus actions.

Check that you didn't accidently clicked one of the Tabs that only shows you a specific type of action.

I don't believe so. Just, fresh out of resting. Can't do any flourishes or stabby-stabs or anything.
