a) wizards have to prepare spells
b) you do not know sorcerer if you think it is a one trick pony, you do not know sorcerer at all
wizard is better utility because more spells.
most of the spells are functionally useless. many of those niche scenarios can be covered by a single spell that accomplishes everything the game has to offer.
Each of the full casters serves their own purpose, and they all play slightly different.
There is no generalized "This class is better".
You prefer wizard, others prefer Sorcs, and there is no situation in the game where you are required to have either.
And pretty much the whole utility aspect can also be solved with other means. Be it having a rogue or bard as skillmonkey, or via potions or scrolls etc...
Also if you do 1 level wizard, 11 levels sorcerer, you get full spell progression and can learn everything from scrolls. The only penalties are you lose arcane recovery, and one asi.
Edit:
I actually do prefer wizards though just thematically cause I'm more nerdy than charismatic/willful.
Then that's why you think Wizards are better than sorcerers... you don't need more damage. OR you don't need to DELETE enemies as fast as Sorcerers do
