As for the BG3, I'm 100+ hours in, will probably finish the story today and thinking about another playthrough.
Tactician difficulty is fun & makes you think. Some fights can take up to a few hours. Story - loving it so far.
But comparing an action rpg souls game to a crpg with turn based combat is kind of silly.
The pacing of the story can be off if the player reaches an important location unexpectedly (e.g. it is possible to get into Act 2 within an hour by accident), and companion story arcs depend on Long Rests, while the player is discouraged from doing so (timed quests). Generally, going from a main quest NPC to another main quest NPC should provide the optimal experience. The tone of the story is more uplifting and less tragic, not counting the gore and corpse piles. It is possible to achieve good outcomes, instead of collecting new equipment after completing a quest line.
Can't comment on the bugs - at the moment, it gets worse the further you progress, while I did not play Elden Ring on release.
