If you allow Volo to try to remove your parasite, he gives you the fake eye and flees the camp afterwards. Does he return to your camp or it is permanent?

Ive tried , lots of what I get if I let Volo operate on me(eye that see invisibility) and that he flees the camp but not the fact he ever returns back to you.

Uh... he does rejoin the camp in act 3. Did you not find him in BG?
