Stealth detection way too good for npcs

Divinity 2 had this same issue, doing stealth without greater invisibility (one of the spells that only exists in the level up screen btw, hope that if your a new player you just know that, another classic larian move) the sight range is insane, and if you are caught even slightly in the red while hidden you are ♥♥♥♥♥♥, but also sometimes, you can be hidden, not in the red, steal something and still caught because you were in a restricted area and all guards and npcs are ominpotent. Then if you get caught you either pay up ALL your gold, sometimes no chance to persuade and get ♥♥♥♥♥♥. I don't even know why stealth is a thing when they clearly design in such a way that you can feel their hatred towards you for wanting to do it.

Picking the knight's pocket for the stone to open the barrier, meanwhile, after a moment she'd notice it was missing, yes - but just clear out of her room and she'd go back to normal soon enough and wouldn't question me when I passed through again.

That section pissed me the ♥♥♥♥ off too, when I tried stealing it, she caught me instantly outside of the red, so I was like what the ♥♥♥♥, I get one of my party members to talk to her steal it just like in divinity 2 and she ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ whips the ♥♥♥♥ around with her back turned and instantly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ spots me. Luckily I had already eaten the worm things so I didn't get caught but that still was like a major eurojank ♥♥♥♥ garbage larian design.

You can turn off most of the light sources - not creating agro, so most place you can change from full light - no stealth possible to shadows - you can at least roll for sneak.

Many class can get some form of invisibility, earliest is the warlock (sadly you can not move but still good to avoid anyone who searching for you after you run a bit.)

Get the smuggler ring and the gloves for pickpocket, you will fail much less time with them.
Cast darkness and or fog to blind enemy in turn mode then steal from them, even the druid idol can be stolen easily. Some vendor is alone and easy target, just steal all invis potion from them all the time. They will restock after a rest so you can have unlimited potions easily at higher level for free.

Dark urge cloak is for combat invis after a kill, it is very easy with it to solo most of the content, be sure you have high agil save and advantage on it if possible.

Speaking of utter hate for crimes, did you know that just LOOKING at signs is a crime too? Looked at the potion seller's sign in Wyrm's Crossing and suddenly got a warning that I was committing a no-no.

They want you to build for stealth, and not be lazy. Wear the leather gear that gives +stealth. Use Expertise and Proficiency in Stealth. Stay in either full or half shadow (they should see you if you are standing under a bright ass light. Increase your DEX saves. There is all types of stuff you can do.

Also, use your team mates and skills. Get a bard on your team to create a performance. The NPCs will turn to them or crowd around them which can give you better angles to steal. You can have a cat familiar that does a loud Meow that draws attention to that area. And you can start a conversation with an NPC, then hit the switch party member button and take your thief behind the person being distracted.

Then let's say your in the red, the time in-between rolling to detect you is also fast asf, so if you get lucky you might pass the first check of being hidden in the red for at least 1 second, it won't matter if you just kept getting lucky because again, the npc can detect you doing something illegal even when they can't see you, just for being in a restricted area they shouldn't know that your in.

Go into turn-based mode when you are picking pockets. A normal "turn" outside of turn-based is like 10 seconds. But in turn-based mode, you can pick a sucker clean, then walk away (as long as you dont fail the rolls). If you un-link the thief from your team then walk away, the NPC will usually confront your teammates. Your teammates can feign ignorance about the theft. The 200IQ move is to swap characters while the NPC is engaged in the accusation and either walk far away with the thief or tp somewhere else.

Right click and select Read. You can read everything that I have seen without aggroing anyone. Left-click sometimes defaults to picking a thing up.

My only critism to the stealth mechaic is that you can not see the sights of the enemies until you try to go into stealth. If you are, caused by the point of view the camera limits you into, cant see where the guards are and there for how low or high your chance for hiding is, you have to waste action in combat, unaware if you are in plain sight or not. A button to passivly show the enemy line of sights would be nice in my opinion.
