I'm not sure what I did, but at the end of the "events" I still had the cat

Like I said, not sure myself. The girl went *poof* then the party member did, blood with notes, did what was wanted, and could save party member. Cat was still at camp when I left for end quest.

To save Grub the cat, his human must be given food or gold when first encountered and a story companion (not a hireling) must be present at the camp when the party is exploring the sewers and finds Orin.

If the companion from the camp appears in the sewers bloodied and initiates a dialogue (where it must be attacked during the dialogue), Grub should be safe.

Edit. Only Lae'zel, Gale, and Halsin/Minthara work.

Is that the cat that says Please don't pet me all the time? The worst cat out there I can't even pet it.

I never triggered the scene where she kills it, and i really don't want to. but on my first run the cat is still at my camp. if you are using speak with animals he shies away from you but if you are not using the spell he just purrs at you.

I gave gold to the girl when i arrived at the town, and when i encountered Halsin in the sewers he was bloodied but my wizard saw through the illusion. Cat is safe and sound at camp.
Yeah i have the cat alive.
In my scene "lae'zel' tried to cut the orphan up?

BUT i think other scenes it was Halsin, other it was the child serving soup?

I DONT KNOW how Orin chooses her victims.

---> Mine was cutting the orphan but I quickly stopped her SO no dead Kitteh

I have seen a couple threads on this and I want to add my two cents that I think if she says when you talk to her in camp, "I brought my own paring knife" then it's already too late for Grub. I think that is a subtle hint toward Orin. I've been speed running through my saves to save Grub, and no luck so far ;^;

I *Think* that if you long rest too many days, Grub is guaranteed to die. As soon as I got into Act 3, I long rested a lot to see if there was any cut scenes to see before I actually went into town, this probably ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it over...

In these mini speed runs to the grub checking, I always went to elfsong tavern sewers entrance so I'm going to try checking. I had a save that I *think* will work, I will try it with a different entrance ASAP!

Nope. I've had that line many times, and the kid and the cat are fine.

**If you have the poly mod, please read**
So after a lot of experimenting, I found out what *my* issue is. She won't take anyone that you're in a romance with, so if you're using the poly mod like me and are in a romance with all three of the possibles, (Gale, Lae'zel, or Halsin/Minthara), she will take Yenna by default, so you need to break up with someone to save Grub. As long as you break up with them before the cutscene in camp, they will be the one kidnapped.

I can't believe I couldn't save the cat because I'm an affection hoe, lol. I just want to kiss everyone before bed, is that too much to ask ;^; I also deleted many saves looking for "the one that would work", lol.

Yeah, I figured out my issue. Thanks, though!
