I am disturbed by the amount of hate toward LGBT+ that runs so RAMPANT in the forums omg.

The clever, manipulative posts that dress up their concerns with how much gayness is in the game whilst hiding under the guise that they're allies and or maybe things should be toned back a little or give us the option to choose our sexual preference in the beginning, doesn't fool anyone.

I cannot believe how backwards things are going.

And don't give me this "I just want to discuss this as an opinion" BS.

I'm actually gay and I think this game is pretty mediocre, the interface is sludgy, combat is frustrating, and the constant sexualised "romance" is creepy as hell. That OK with you?

There is nothing forwards or backwards about having a like or dislike towards something. Those word's are not even logical in how you apply them, you can go forward off a cliff and backwards into safety. One is not inherently better than the other. Acceptance and normalization was going great albeit slowly, until a bunch of activists decided it's time to hurry things along, and they became very arrogant, obnoxious, entitled, and annoyed the ♥♥♥♥ out of everyone. So now there is backlash.

Hmm. . . Yes and no. There are a ton of homophobic comments on the forum in regards to this game (and also gaming in general), but it is also true that some of the characters come on quite strong if you don't flat out reject them immediately. I'm gay and found it a bit annoying how many times I had to tell Gale to go away after what I thought was initially friendly dialogue.

There definitely should be a healthy debate on the options available that lead to romance, but Steam forums don't seem to be it with all the trolls. Larian forums at least have mods keeping the discussion on topic.

there was backlash the whole time, pride in general is an ongoing protest because it has to be, because instead of accepting that queer people exist, you decide "they went too fast!"

No. What you want to discuss is your HATE for it.

And the best thing is, this game is totally straight - only your companions are gay, and only when you play as a male.

Playing as a female feels cool, because Laz'eal feels like a crazy chick (no gayness from her), Shadowheart is so slow, that you probably romance someone else at that point and she then don't come on to you, and Karlach can feel like a proper lesbian with her massive body :P

Also even with homosexual sex, scenes are heterosexual so they feel weird :D
