Why is the romance with Halsin so terrible?

I spent 60+ hours to get romance with Halsin. I don't want to share him with anyone
But there is no relationship for an ordinary girl in this game
I've never felt so helpless in a game before than in BG 3, when they tell you before sex that this is the only thing you can count on.
I just hate it. I don't want to play in act 3. The most miserable thing you could think of.
It would be better if you just left him silent in the camp.
I can imagine how funny it was for you when you fulfilled the "wishes of the players" by adding him to the companions. The most interesting male character does not want any relationship with us other than sex. Thank you for ruining everything

The characters in question are not written to have a specific identity, ie Shadowheart does not identify as gay or straight in her origin. It is soley determined by who the player character is.

You thinking Astarion giving off homosexual vibes is indicative of your feelings and not anything based in reality, because anyone could interpret it differently. The origin characters are specifically Larian's attempt to make everyone happy, instead of specifically making the characters sexual preferences a part of their personality. Which I suppose you can argue whether is was the correct decision or not, either way you just can't please everyone.

I still think going the Bioware route would had been the best course of action here.

This is such a weird stance to take. "No relationship for an ordinary girl". So what, you're cishet and not satisfied there's a cishet man you can have a monogamous relationship with? Even though all the characters are playersexual/pansexual and some do want to be monogamous? Also lol yeah, Halasin is a 350 year old druid. He's crunchy as ♥♥♥♥, of course stuff like monogamy or classically defined relationships are going to be in his wheelhouse. Especially when he's also as old as he is. Sex is natural, it's part of life/making it, and he's all about nature. So of course he's down to ♥♥♥♥, and enthusiastically so lol.

He's been incredibly sweet to my mc and makes it clear in a dialogue option that you're all he wants (at least at the moment), but he doesn't want to stop *you* from engaging with others intimately. If you're worried he's going to run off on you, I doubt it. And he likes sex, yes. But he's also romantic to my mc after they have sex. It's clear he has feelings for you, which is WHY he's so excited to have sex with you to begin with. He also expresses that he deeply cares for you verbally i.e. call you "my heart".

This is honestly such a weirdly melodramatic reaction to a character being potentially polyamorous and enjoying sex. Especially in a game clearly as sex-positive and inclusive as this one is aiming to be.

Well keep him as a druid with benefits, as soon as you toss some cubs he might change his mind or maybe he'll just run, run very fast, in bear shape form into the sunset.

It's a shame, because he seemed like an interesting character, but that he turned out to be a meme man-child who only jokes about bears and that he's very muscular and big.

Minthara, even half-implemented, is a much deeper and better written character. And because of the limitation of having to remove three other companions from the list to get her, most players won't even know her beyond being one of the first mini-boss in the game.

It's sad enough that Halsin's only reason for joining the group is that he wants to have sex with your character. Awkward, and ridiculous. I can't take a character like that seriously.

In all fairness, if they don't rewrite Halsin, they might as well remove him as a teammate.

To be fair, Halsin being a free love hippy seems in line with his character.

Want a big beefy man ? Halsin

Or a more traditional white man with some jokes ? Gale

You even have some bdsm option with the demon in Raphael’s bed

Meanitime is men have one passable option for a cute girlfriend and that’s Shadowheart and we also can’t really bang her til act 3 so you should be happy if you are into men, you have a lot more options than we do

And then you can take Shadowheart to a foursome with the Drow Twins and invite Halsin too, and Shadowheart is fine with that. Just with they'd have given some love to Wyll, Gale and Astarion in that regard too. Almost all the companions I've talked to about being open or having a third join instantly talk about Halsin.

In my game Wyll had sex with Lae'zel, after that he advanced Shadowheart with a complement during us visiting the Underdark. She refused laughing and my MC was scratching his head.

But Halsin's problem is that, straight up, he's a completely mediocre and pointless character.
Honestly, it's hard for me to imagine a character like that running the druidic grove xD. Kagha would have been a much more interesting character than Halsin, and we really didn't need a druid because Jaheira already fills that role, being a much more interesting and, above all, iconic character.

In my campaigns I only wear it for (act 3 spoilers: that Orin doesn't kidnap a more interesting companion , otherwise I'd just tell her that she can't join my party.
