Difficulty is too hard
I have been playing role games for 30 years, original baldurs gate 2, diablo, etc... and this game difficulty completely sucks.

It's very, very hard, to end every combat with almos all main characters dead, enemies that don't miss almos never a shot, and a party that seems a bunch of a current scholars viewing a not woke 80's film.

I am very disappointed with this buy at the moment because it's seems to be related to the internal game mechanics itself.

I am playing on medium difficult. I think in hard difficult, at the start, you see a blank screen and GAME OVER painted on it.

It makes sense for me.

Don't know who review this difficulty at early stages, but they should to be jailed :-D

Try explorer difficulty at first if medium is to hard for you right now. You can always change it back once you become more accustomed to the games mechanics and amass some good tactics and strategies.

I'm starting to find medium difficulty too easy, so I don't think the game is too hard. Maybe try explorer mode? 30 years has no bearing on your skill in a video game, other factors do. Regards, another 30+ year gamer.

LOL! You are complaining about difficulty on medium... try tactician; but only if you're a sadist! There is no RNG in this game. There is an illusion of RNG dice rolls but I've loaded battle moments over a dozen times just to finally get a dice roll above 7 out of 20. Generally my dice rolls are sub 7 70-80% of the time; even at level 6 vs level 1-3 enemies.

I'm on balanced difficulty too. Haven't had anyone die in the last 40+ hours (all of act 3 so far, excluding being pushed into chasms.

Idk how far you are into the game, but one simple trick to make it easier is to recruit 3 hirelings, give them max constitution, get them to level 3 clerics so they have "protection from poison" and "warding bond".

put one into your party whilst at camp, have them cast those spells on one of your party members, then dismiss them. Do this again for the other 2 hirelings.

Now your party is resistant to all damage.

Later you can level them as transmuter wizards. They can cast longstrider on everyone. At level 7 they can create a transmuter stone, which gives a custom buff, similar to above.

Simply lower the difficulty if it's to difficult for you.

I cant expect to know your journey and skill levels. I will talk about mine instead. I am struggling with some of it on Explorer (cue laughter). The fault is mine for not using the environment and inventory properly. I expect to charge in and get good results. So in my case its a skill issue.

i have a feeling you didnt play any of those games back in the day.

also diablo is a horrible example.

bsg and bsg 2 were both hard.
had perma death
also most CRPGs that are worth their salt all are "hard"

Get the mod that allows more than 4 party members. Traditionally BG has always had a team of 6. I have found 5-6 is the sweet spot, though that also depends on how you build your team. Going past the default 4 can allow you to add one or two members that are strictly utility/support.

Even one little thing can tip a battle in your favor, or against. For example, I had one party member use the weapon that could make you go mad if you don't do damage very round. That member missed once, went mad and proceeded to slaughter most of my party. You can imagine how powerful that could be if applied to the enemy as well.

It is a Divinity game, not a true DnD one. They key thing of all Dvinity games has always been the fact that there is almost no mandatory combat. Steal, talk, explore until you level 5 - then it will be much, much easier.

Even if there is a goblin and and orc, unlike DnD games, in BG3 you do not necessarily need to jump and kill them to bypass.

Complaining about difficulty when there is an easier difficulty mode.

Galaxy brain here.

Im not sure what your doing but I find combat almost too easy. Advice I have dont sleep on potions and scrolls they can get you out of binds. Your enviroment is super useful get high for archers to get advantage and use stuff to help you fire on ground dip weapons, Barrels are great walls to chokepoint enemies. My advice is to use your brain and make fights easy setup and be prepared dont just walk into every encounter and get slapped.

And I'm over here thinking Tactician is too easy...hoping for a hardcore mode of sorts.

Said like someone who never played baldurs gate 2. Which is probably true in this case.

How can you blame the game mechanics when plenty of people are doing fine on tactician? It's you. Not the game. No shame in it, but you are dead wrong. Now, if not a single person was capable of progressing on any difficulty then it would be a game issue. Thst isn't the case. It's you.
