Throwing is broken
so i just finished my first ran through and ran a fighter ranger throwing build. The scaling seems to be completely broken.

if you go tavern brawler + hunters mark your damage modifiers apply once for the throw once for the hunters mark and once for tavern brawler.

As a result on an attack i was doing:
1d8+5+3 +1d6 lightning damage from the legendary trident +1d4 from the throwing gloves +1d4 from the throwing ring +2 radiant damage from a ring.
1d6 from hunters mark +1d4 from the throwing gloves +1d4 from the throwing ring +2 radiant damage from a ring
+flat 5 from tavern brawler +1d4 from the throwing gloves +1d4 from the throwing ring +2 radiant damage from a ring
+ another 3d4 lightning damage in an aoe.

as a result every throw had a range of 31-75 damage on a non crit and 43-131 damage

If you have the tadpole +1d4 phychic damage and 1d4 radiant buff from crusader from a cleric then they also triple dip adding a further 6-24 damage on a non crit and 12-48 on a crit.

this means with 2 attacks per turn ( not using action surge or haste ) my thrower was doing 74-358 damage per turn its hella fun but im pretty sure this is not how it should be working. and during the last fight this gets even more nuts if your thrower is the "chosen one"

it does have the downside that throwing is super janky especially with the legendary trident so i kept the returniong spear from act 1 handy for awkward spaces and if i didnt fancy killing my own party with crazy aoe damage. I will also note there is a pair of gloves that you could use to add 1d6 instead of 1d4 but i was using them one someone else.

Give it a try before it gets nerfed as u can play it super early as the returning spear ring and gloves are pretty early game items from act 1.

Please note i did not min max this it was just something i found while playing so you could make this much much scarier if you tried.

i exactly encounterd that with karlach in my first run there is a bow you can buy that gives you hunters mark and a spear that always returns i was a barbarian berserker fighter on her and hasted her so she got like 7 throws a turn and it was crazty she outdmged everyone by far.

That's pretty wild, does this run the same on barbarians then?

my karlach's enraged throw is OP with even without building for it. ranged dmg+prone that pretty much never misses, only for a bonus action? damn thats pretty good.

i can only imagine how broken it must be when built for it.

I was wondering about this, I just gave karlach the ring and the glove wondering if they stack, not only do they stack but work with Hunter's Mark.

Man, it's not just throwing. This game's combat is so limitless you can do so many things. A friend just taught me a trick on how to use druids as bombs. Get a few crates stacked, or leap/teleport/climb to a high spot turn into an owlbear, have your mage use the increase size spell and smash down on your enemies. Weight seems to be taken into calculation here increasing the damage you do, it oneshots most things.

Talk about Rookie numbers.

Yeah I'm kinda disappointed, I wanted to throw things sometimes for fun but it's been trivializing combat by basically out damaging everyone else put together
