I came accross this article and was so afraid I missed this "mind flayer outpost" in the underdark. I have done pre release several times and have over 100hours of timeplay on my current session and I never hear about this outpost in the underdark. I read every book and note that I put my hands on and explored every area to the fullest. How disappointed I would be to know I would miss something like this in the game lol

Though, for this Dairow I was looking for answers but it doesn't seem like there is one at the moment.
I dont think he was mistakenly put there because of all the sleep potions around him. He is meant to be here but my theory would be that there might be a small hidden quest somewhere with this npc.

Cause a name for an unknown character and sewers isn't a spoiler and if you think it is then maybe you should stay away from forums talking about the game, but let's say I did put a spoiler in the title. I put Spoiler in the front. You chose to keep reading instead of moving on because the so called spoiler I'm guessing you are referring to isn't until the end of the sentence. So again any spoiler you think you got is on you.

I tried throwing an Elixir of Peerless Focus on him, because one of its tooltips is "Magic can't put you to sleep".

I tried Death Ward, "target must be an ally".

Tried to "Throw" him, hurt him for 3 of his HP, didn't wake up.

"Charm Person" works but doesn't wake him up, was gonna then use "Friends", but he still shows hostile. "Calm Emotions" doesn't seem to have an effect.

His backpack has a note about his lover having died, offering a job in the Guild. It's signed "NF".

"Tasha's Hideous Laughter" works, but he laughs in his sleep.

"Command" has no effect.

This is frustrating.

If i remember correctly he had a very unhealthy amount of empty sleep potions in his pockets and around him, my guess is he didn't want to wake up after emptying them all

Yeah the whole thing is that he wanted to off himself, but if there wasn't anything that you can do with him then why did Larian just have the body there with a note saying why and some extra sleeping potions for the player. Instead they left the guy alive and just asleep and for some reason he's marked as an enemy.

Dairow Vin is a Mephistopheles Tiefling.
I found him in the sewers (X:-155 y.846) in ACT 3. Passed out an red to me. 5 HP Level 1.

Already knocked him out so I can't try in my run (and too lazy to load a former save as I did not save right before knocking him) but has anyone tried to drink a sleep potion next to him? Maybe that could make us "meet him" in his sleep?

Same here. tried to push him, used arrow of salving. didn't work. killed him, tried to speak with dead - nothing to say. He has tarnished ring in his bag.
