Why Dragon Age's System Triumphs for Me Over Baldur's Gate 3
As an avid gamer who revels in the thrill of epic battles and strategic clashes, I've had the privilege of delving into both the Dragon Age and Baldur's Gate 3 universes. While both franchises boast their own unique charms, I've found myself consistently drawn to Dragon Age's combat system over that of Baldur's Gate 3. Allow me to explain why this preference has taken root.

From the moment I first took up arms in the Dragon Age series, I was captivated by the blend of real-time action and tactical prowess. The ability to seamlessly switch between party members, each with their distinct abilities, granted a sense of empowerment that remains unparalleled. The ebb and flow of battle felt natural, immersive, and responsive, allowing me to adapt on the fly and make split-second decisions. Whether facing off against a horde of Darkspawn or a cunning dragon, Dragon Age's combat kept my heart pounding and my mind racing.

Baldur's Gate 3, on the other hand, introduces a turn-based approach that demands a different kind of strategic thinking. While there's no denying the appeal of carefully planning every move, the pace often left me yearning for the dynamic action I had come to love in Dragon Age. The moments of tension and excitement that come from real-time decision-making were somewhat diluted in Baldur's Gate 3's methodical battles.

Additionally, the familiarity of Dragon Age's combat mechanics across the series played a significant role in solidifying my preference. Building upon the foundations laid in earlier games, each new installment felt like reuniting with old friends and mastering new tricks. This sense of continuity created a deep connection between me and the game's combat, enhancing my overall experience.

However, personal preference is a defining factor, and my affection for Dragon Age's combat may also be rooted in the adrenaline-charged thrill of real-time engagement. The direct control over characters and the ability to react swiftly to evolving situations have consistently resonated with my gaming style. While Baldur's Gate 3 undoubtedly offers a strategic playground for those who revel in meticulous planning, I find myself yearning for the heart-pounding intensity that Dragon Age delivers.

In the end, the combat system is just one aspect of what makes a game extraordinary, and both Dragon Age and Baldur's Gate 3 offer their own narratives, worlds, and characters to explore. However, when it comes to the combat experience that resonates most deeply with my preferences, Dragon Age's real-time action and tactical dynamism stand as the victor. It's a world where I feel the rush of battle at my fingertips, and it's a feeling that keeps me coming back for more.

Yeah sounds like ChatGPT... but I get you like Dragon Age more.

Honestly I like Dragon Age Stories compared to BG3. Its weird though BG2 has a better story.

Maybe because Dragon Age and BG2 were both created by Bioware at the time

If by "real-time action" you mean constantly pausing the game to play it like a turn-based game and eventually watching the characters automatically exchange blows as if it were in WoW.

No thanks, I'll stick with the turn-based system. Besides, it's the closest to D&D.
Turn based is what most people wants.
RTwP is what gives you more strategy and immersion.

That’s why Pillars of eternity 2 gameplay is still far higher in my heart than BG3’. (+ no RTS selection like in older game is a nightmare to manage. Designed for controller)

But Dragon Age Inquisition was a nightmare for strategy, Disgusting IU, oversimplified gameplay, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ tactic camera.

what tactical skill can be in Dragon age if I was knocked out because of the animation of finishing, it's ridiculous

Because it looks too nice for Steam forums standards.
