Darkvision seems broken?
Not mechanically in terms of hitting/getting disadvantage, but honestly...I can't see for crap in dark areas. you get a little cone of light, but it's no different if you have a character with 24m of dark vision or 3m of vision, everything remains absolutely dark. You have to use light or torch just to properly see in the area...but then you are giving up the mechanics just so the player can actually see the surroundings.

in DnD 5E, darkvision grants only the equivalent of "dim light", not good vision. Which means that yes, you need a real light source to see "well".

In the game it also is only implemented in a cone in front of the character, whereas light sources are a circular AoE.

It's not broken, it's working as intended. Just not how you wish it would work. You can see the difference between darkvision and no darkvision quite easily by just switching between a character without it and then to one with it in a dark area. It is quite noticeable.

Works fine for me? Swapping between characters that have it and don't have it is a huge difference.

Devil's sight: "You can see normally in darkness, both magical and nonmagical, to a distance of 24 m" Nothing about "dim" or anything like that, but you're telling me this is "normal":

It's fine its a cone, whats not fine is it still doesn't actually light up or "see" like normal. It's not dim vision or a weak version of dark vision, it just barely shows things properly, even when as you can see I have a well lit area not too far away. Basically my character should just basically see that whole nook like its not even dark, yet its like this.

Yeah it's actually "broken" but mechanically in favor of all characters. My hit-% seems to be the same with or without light source on a character that has no Darkvision ... very strange

You didn't say "Devil's Sight" in your original post, you said "Darkvision", they aren't the same thing.

If Devil's Sight isn't giving better vision in darkness, than yes, it is either bugged or Larian didn't implement it correctly. I have not played a Warlock who took Devil's Sight in BG3 to comment specifically on how it looks in my game.

Tun up your gamma settings a bit perhaps? Or just use a light source? There are lots of ways to produce light in the game.

mechanically it seems to work okay, like being in darkness helps my characters that have it vs those that don't...but you can't see crap

That's not the point...I mean, I guess the gamma thing can fix it, but using a light source *does* work. But why do I have to give up a mechanical advantage I literally built my team around just to be able to *see* when all of them should be able to do that?

This was a waste of time posting here, I just took your advice and just emailed larian. This probably never gets fixed, but its really frustrating.

Pretty sure my Devil's Sight Warlock also didn't get improved vision in darkness

That's what I'm saying, I took warlock dips for everyone just for devil's sight and it's doing bunk. I get a little cone that still misses chests right in front of me if I don't happen to mouse over them
