Why did they decide to turn Baldur's Gate controversial?

Warning, I'm not talking only about BG3, but the whole series. Before making any kind of comment, do read carefully. This is mainly about romances and how they evolve during the years.

Baldur's Gate is one of the most epic games in gaming history. I'm talking about BG1 and BG2 where there were a few romances.

Later on, Beamdog bought the game and released LGBT content in the expansion SoD.

Nothing actually wrong about adding LGBT, don't get me wrong, but it's the fact they somehow forced you into those contents where some NCPs have to coming out and you must do those romances if you don't want to miss some game features.

Now, I have been reading with BG3 the game has turned into a massive gay romance if CHARNMAE is male, where most of the NCPs will try to flirt with CHARNAME anytime, pushing the players to handle those romances like an unwanted thing rather then a funny thing.

In this context, the game seems to be a fantasy game for horny adolescents who have never been kissing a girl.

Why has the game Baldur's Gate, which was about D&D, turned into a woke game more focused on romances of any kind, rather than keeping his fantasy background?

I know those books about D&D had a lot of homosexuality, but those books were during the '70s when homosexuality was still forbidden in some Western countries and it was also considered a mental illness, so they have been using a fantasy world to talk and fantasize about it.

Today, homosexuality is not illegal anymore, at least in the West, and it's not considered a mental illness either, widely accepted by the Millennial/Z generations, considered the most tolerant generations about it. So why is the need to push the political agenda and woke content into the games?

Going back to Baldur's Gate, they should give the option to the players to skip the romances they do not like and still allow them to access the related content.

For instance, I might refuse a gay romance, but still help the NPC with his tasks.

Also, do not think I'm some kind of white knight, but don't females have the right to have romances too?

When talking about BG1 and BG2, we are talking about 20 years ago, when 90% of the players were males, so there were 3x hetero romances for males and 1x hetero romance for females.

With SoD, female players could only have a lesbian or bisexual romance, while the rest of the NPCa that were added were homosexual or bisexuals, a part from Neera and Rasaad.

I think romances are a good thing because they keep the game spicy, but the amount of NPCs should be proportionate to the player base.

Let's say if, just giving an example, there are 50% of hetero players, 30% of hetero females and 20% of LBGT. I'm expecting to see 5x hetero NPCs for males, 3x hetero NPCs for females, and 2x NPCs for LGBT players.

The rest, for those who want more, can be just a DLC.

Once again, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's controversial because of the LGBT content, but because, in the present days, forcing players into woke if they want to see other game features is not a good thing.

Woke use to mean to stay vigilant against racism. BG3 in comparison is pretty mild, but it's here.
