You sure its doesn't scale off level?
As to the rest, that's how dragonborn are in the players handbook. They've always been a meh racial choice till the fizban splat book came out (while the game was already in development).
Still I think if the Range of the Breath attack was increased it could still hold some value, though whats really needed is access to something like the Dragonborn feats.
BTW how did they go about Brass dragon compared to Gold & Red dragon breath? as if i recall right that one should be a fire line spell whe4re the other two is a fire cone spell
i love fizban book. That is what got me into dnd tbh cause dragon rider
they fr need to be changed if thats the case, thats such a waste for such a cool race.
Edit: This is not a slight, I just think it's a tad odd. :U
JOL!
(and now you toastman)
however, i do find it quite silly that dragonborn is so weak compared to all the other races. it just doesnt sit right with me. i wanna have my cool unit of a 7 foot tall dragonborn barbarian rip apart a puny human, and for my literal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ acid breath to melt skin off of people's bones, not mildly sting them as if they were hit by the world's mildest hot sauce. i mean, its acid. when i picked black dragon i was so hyped cuz i wanted to spit acid all over and cover the area in acid to melt people, only to realize not only was the damage and range very meh, it also didnt coat the area in acid, and required long rest to get back, making it my least useful and also least used ability. a LITERAL bottle of acid you can find easily in the world and use as an AOE throwable does a better job than my dedicated racial ability, which is the only thing i get for being dragonborn.
if anything, it kinda breaks the immersion for me whenever i see how mediocre dragonborn's abilities are, altho a lot of people dont care as much as me. :p
TBF - Dragonborn's original stat bonuses were +2 strength, +1 Charisma in table top, one of the few with a bonus to strength before Tasha's came along, and later Fizbans/Volo's.
Larian decided to go with the Tasha's variant rule, for better or for worse, so anyone can have +2 strength.
Larian removing racial stat bonuses really ♥♥♥♥♥ up some of the balance, and especially ♥♥♥♥♥ with RP stuffs for the (supposedly) physically stronger races. i hope they change it back tbh, or like, add an option for it you know?
i know the developers said they dont plan on doing DLC, but now that the game is so damn successful, theres no way theyre going to ignore it after release, so im hopeful theyll come back and do some reablancing and fix some bugs.
