Coffee-lock never sleeps! Only short rests 4eva!
Yeah seems like you figured it out, if your doing it for lore and use of eldritch then 2 lvls, the build very much depends on the person overall.
The reason it changes is because each person wants to utilize it differently. If you just want meta magic you take less levels in sorc and take the Meta magic adept for a smidge more versatility in that department. But if you just want the powerful cantrip it makes sense to go less warlock.
Warlorc, while clearly related, doesn't seem to abide by any naming scheme.
If we create anagrams of "Sorcerer Warlock" using the combinations of words mentioned in my post we can get the following 7 anagrams:
Cererlock Arows
Rare Crew Sorlock
Sorwar or Recckler
Warsorc Clerk Ore
Lockerer Car Rows
Los Warcerer Rock
Warlorc's Creek
Personally I love Los Warcerer Rock, but the Rare Crew Sorlock ain't bad either. But don't be caught without a paddle up Warlorc's Creek
Warcerer??
Warselock?
Sorwarlockerer?
Warsorlockcerer?
Sorwarcerlocker?
I can probably keep this up awhile lol
How about Wsaorrlcoecrcer? Haha
I ain't gonna make up acronyms for all of those. I made 7, that is enough letter games for me for now.
I don't wanna wait,
for this game to come out
I want to know right now
what weapon cantrips will there be?
Warloc's Creek
Light armor, simple weapon proficiency, EB and agonizing/ repelling blast- 2 levels
pact of tome/ blade/ chain- 3 levels
extra attack (thirsting blade invocation)- 5 levels
Or, consider this as a possible alternative-
Oathbreaker Paladin- 2 levels. Get your weapon and armor proficiencies and divine smites.
Fiend Pact/ Pact of the Blade Warlock- 5 Levels. You'll get extra attack a bit late, but this shores up your ranged capabilities, 3 invocations of your choice, Temp HP on kill, weapons use charisma modifier for attacks, 1 ASI or feat, 2 lvl 3 pact spell slots.
Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer- 5 Levels. More cantrips, 3rd level spell slots and metamagic. ASI/ Feat.
Alternatively you could go Githyanki and skip the paladin levels and divine smites but still have better armor and weapon proficiencies for a 5/7 warlock/ sorcerer spread and access to 4th level sorc spells. Zariel Tieflings are an option as well with some racial smites. It really depends on if you want to dip into melee or if you just want to be more of a pure caster. 2-3/ 10-9 warlock/ sorc for pure caster or 5/7 warlock/ sorcerer or 2/5/5 paladin warlock sorcerer for more melee.
This makes a huge difference, because if it's allowed then going 5 levels in 'Lock is worth it for level 3 slots, which convert into even more Sorc Points, especially 8f your other three companions are Bards or Bard multiclasses.
Go 4 warlock first,
Then Sorc all the way after.
You want a 4/8 distribution for ASIs
You want to start warlock, you’ll get light armor proficiency.
Bard's get Song of Rest.
