Multiclassing newb question (Warlock + Sorc)
so i barely Multiclass at all, cause i simply lack the knowledge and everytime i try to look up how to do a specific build i get a hundred different answers that sometimes even contradict each others. so i just often stick to Pure classes.

that being said. i would really like to have a Warlock + Sorcerer build with starting out as a warlock (for roleplaying purposes and make use of Eldricht blast ) but focusing later mostly on Sorcerer (for spell slot purposes). so how would i make that work the best and at what level should i change from warlock to Sorcerer?

Update: Thanks Guys. main question answered by many. Feel free to discuss builds or what you want.

Warlock 2 then sorc, probably. Depends if you can convert Warlock spells to sorc points, and if haste will let you still double cast.

2-4 in warlock is probably good. 2 levels gets you Eldritch Blast, and 2 eldritch invocations. 3 gets you a pact of your choice, so you can either summon, melee, or get extra cantrips. Going to 4 gets you a total of 3 feats.

This is very dependent on how you wanna play I have also seen a few builds, I know title about meta cross classing but for sorlock I've ween people discuss going 5 lvls sorc first then warlock, or starting as warlock and putting a few early into sorc for that meta magic use then focusing warlock again till 5...
I think it depends on what you are trying to do and lean on? But I can't be sure, some people have talked about it here fir the story elements warlock offers that you would want to change the build to start as a warlock but it seems the 5 lvls of sorc are more important to them at the start. Either way it seems like focusing till 1 class is 4 or 5 then swapping might be a good goal.

Two levels of warlock and the rest sorcerer would go very well. Any deeper of an investment than that is really going to curtail your access to higher-level magic in the long term.

Pact choice at level 3? is that rather important and worth not putting that extra lvl in Sorc?

Well. like i said, i want Warlock mostly for the roleplay purpose (heard rumors that you can interact with your Patron in full version BG3 among other things) and for the eldritch blast, since i like it and want to make the most of it, so i wanted to startthe game as a Warlock.
But thats about all i want from Warlock since in general i prefer Sorverer , i like the raw spellcasting power more and would like to invest mostly in this. So the way i wanted to play is that i could use mostly strong sorcerer spell and when i am out or the enemy is not worth ,use Eldrich blast then to deal with them.

Warlocks get to choose Blade, Chain, or Tome at level 3, which primarily opens and expands your options as a warlock further into the class. As a multiclass dip, I wouldn't consider it to be worth grabbing. Your second level in Warlock gives you Eldritch Invocation choices, which you can use to empower your Eldritch Blast, and that's really the biggest draw of this multiclass combination in the first place.

Thanks for explaining. so far 2 lvls in Warlock sounds like the best choice
Sorlock is a well known build. you can do some research

Only if you're willing to give up some raw spellcasting power for some extra utility.

According to the 5e D&D information, Sorcerers get another metamagic at level 10, as well as access to an extra level 5 spell slot.

So if you go 3 warlock and 9 sorcerer, you give up that extra metamagic and the ability to cast 2 level 5 spells in a row, for the ability to summon a familiar, use your spellcasting modifier with melee weapons, or gain additional cantrips from other classes.

i see. thanks . sounds not worth it to me. so 2 lvl in Warlock it probably is then.
Quick question: I've seen the common parlance for this hybrid be called "Sorlock" before.
But does anyone call it a "Warlorc?"
Because that name just seems funnier to me (and I do like a funny name).

Also, if they don’t fix haste, Haste + EB is going to be an absolute Gatling gun.

in some rather specific D&D (and by now old/outdated )guides i came across the term coffelock build or Coffee-mage.
which is the most funny name for a build to me.
You could go 5-Lock to get lvl 3 pact slots, then go the rest of the way in Sorc.

Haha, that's pretty good.
