And this is larian, environmental interactions were always going to be a thing, I'd be heartbroken if they hadn't been a thing.
5e dnd rule set is not even balanced on table top, almost everything I hear is X class is clearly superior and Y class is trash.
Then add in the fact that TT and video games are not the same so a good amount of the rules need to be adjusted. By all accounts this is a faithful version of 5e, faithful does not need to be pinpoint accurate.
You also need to add in almost every 5e Table will have homebrew, or there interpretation of rules
I'm not sure BG3 has been changed anymore than other versions in the past. To be fair though, 5e itself has so many different rule sets and changes over time that I guess it kinda depends what version of 5e you're comparing BG3 to.
I am just hoping for a good game, but is it weird larian would pay for a license and not make full use of it.
The amount of things larian changed isn’t that crazy really
The stuff missing aren’t dealbreakers and some class like ranger and monk definitely needed the buff
For sure the modders will do their best to make it more close to D&D in the future
Solasta is a ♥♥♥♥ game tbh. But base 5e in general os a really really bad version of dnd. Its way to simplified, the spells are seriously nerfed compared to earlier versions + less customization and so forth. Its basically dumbed down dnd.
Larian implementing homebrew rules is a good thing.
Of course it could be tweaked to be better but the foundation on it is much better in my opinion
-No dodge or held action
-various needed changes to classes
-some changes to spells
-weapon "actions"
-removed multiclassing restrictions
-shove as a bonus action
-drinking potions as a bonus action
We don't know about scroll usage at release. We don't know about multiclassing changes yet.
Anything else major?
