Monk multiclass options
Hello there!
I'd love to hear tips on multiclassing a monk. For my 4 coop pack I need a support that will help in research or/and buffs, a little control, and of course decent damage, but I want to make it through the monk class with multiclassing cleric. There will be a total of 3 subclasses available for the monk and a bunch for the cleric.
At first glance I'm attracted to domaine of war (extra attacks), domaine of knowledge (open world checks), domaine of life (buffs?), but I don't really have a good idea of how profitable it will be to pass. On the monk side, emphasize the open palm path because the elementalist requires a lot of chi, and the shadow ninja requires a lot of dexterity.
To reiterate - my goal is to be a support monk in a 4 person co-op on hard difficulty. My pack will presumably have a STR-player warrior paladin (main melee fighter), CHA-player sorcerer and a DEX-player hunter/rogue
Thank you all )

Yea I was thinking of doing a shadow monk with my friend he wants to be pure evil as dark urge, So I figured Drow Shadow monk with a multi into assassin what would be the best way to get this to work?
There are only two reasons to multiclass Monk levels - Unarmored Defense, and stuns.

As a Cleric, you'll have at least medium armor, possibly heavy, so UD is useless to you and that leaves stuns.

That means you're going at least 5 levels in Monk or it's completely pointless. But you get both Extra Attack AND Stunning Strike, as well as 5 Ki points that recharge on short rests.

The real question is do you push Monk to 8th level and then dip 4 levels into Cleric so you get all three feats, or do you put 7 levels into Cleric to get as many spell slots as you can?

The subclassez I don't think matter quite as much as the base class abilities here, so just choose whatever feels thematically the most fun to you.

I'd probably go 5/7 Four Elements Monk/Tempest Cleric so I could get Call Lightning and Stunning Strike and I would equip Hamarhraft or that other hammer that knocks enemies back. Although I could spend Ki to upcast Call Lightning, I'm mostly reserving that for Stunning Strikes.

Have another character Haste me and I can stun 2x per turn also Call Lightning.

It's kinda hard to discuss Monk right now. It's going to be homebrewed on full release, so how it functions and what is viable for 5e won't be the same here.

What we do know is it seems to be a lot better so far. Apparently monk proficiencies are changing and now anything you're proficient in can be a monk weapon. They also seem more powerful and doesn't struggle in damage/ki like it's 5e counterpart, so multiclassing might be more viable now.

I think monk is the only class that will not benefit from multiclassing because of his ki
Monk/Warlock is a powerful combo because both your Ki and Pact Slots recharge on a short rest.

If the Shadow Blade spell is in the game you should be able to make this your Pact Weapon (however Larian implements it), which ought to allow to deal at least 3d8 +CHA 2x per turn (extra attack) or more if Hasted, and even more if the Blade cantrips are in the game...

Pact of the Blade + Shadow Blade + Green Flame Blade
