The game is great, except for the View (camera)
It's definitely an immersion killer, you feel like you are controlling a camera looking at a group of puppets that you control. You never feel like you're any of those characters. And then getting the Camera "stuck" where you can't move it well or at all many times is pretty annoying.. The perspective needs work, the rest is great. It's a BIG one thing though, for me.

While I don't have quite the same reaction to the "puppet camera" as you, I DO prefer a third person camera when available, at the moment in Early Access the furthest you can zoom in is still looking down in an awkward way that plays psychological warfare with my neck lol.

So I'm hoping the full release version has worked on it a bit, or at the very least that those using the controller control scheme (as opposed to mouse and keyboard) get to be able to look up a bit more when fully zoomed in.

Even if there aren't any changes, I'm still going to be head over heels for this game (and then some!), but this is definitely a bit of a grievance I have with it too!

yeah.. have to agree that the camera view is awkward and annoying to deal with at various levels. it feels, unstable? at best, as it skews your view when you're moving rooms etc. i keep finding myself having to stop and adjust it far more than i like when i'm transitioning through areas and trying to make it awkwardly look up so i can see some mob that might be trying to kill me.. right from the first fight with the imps. i'm really surprised it's gotten to the point of release with this issue.

I mean that is what an isometric RPG is

Somewhat agree too. Not so much immersion that bothers me but it's just sometimes awkward trying to see what's going on. With verticality in the game world it is often hard to see what is happeing at a specific level (as in height) and it's just a bit unwieldy. This is a thing that certainly works a lot better in a flat game like Bg2.

I wish I had a height control for the camera. Just 2 more buttons that make it go up and down. And maybe even a way to change the angle, like.... look around wherever the camera currently is.

I don't mind the perspective at all but BG3's particular camera feels really clunky, the minimum zoom is still too zoomed-in to properly handle some of the battles and the inability to adjust height (separately from zoom) is an annoyance in places with lots of verticality

I know not many people here are fond of the Solasta comparison but that game allows the player to control the camera's z-level with shift+scroll. To be fair maybe it'd be harder to implement well since BG3 isn't properly grid-based but I find it hard to believe Larian doesn't have the resources or the awareness to come up with a solution

I think one issue is that they allow the camera to be rotated in the first place. D4 doesn't do that but still looks amazing and has verticality too. This allows them to design the game world in a way that is 100% pleasing all the time at this one angle they give you.
