How is bard? Any good guides or tips?
I’ve never ever played a bard in any DND game. So upon launch I’d like to make one.

Any guides or tips? Best party makeup with a bard? Maybe a Paladin, Gale and Will? Or Shadowheart / Gale and the Fighter? Sorry forgot her name.

Seems fair.

Bard was not a strong class in BG2 so there's a possibility that they're posting from that perspective instead of willfully spreading misinformation.
Perhaps but he definitely never tried it in this game. Bard is very good

Oh, you don't gotta tell me. I've been trying to spread the good word on Bards here for a while - every time someone wants Sorcadin or Lockadin advice I chime in to say "hey we don't know if Booming/Green Blade cantrips are going to be in, but Valor/Sword bard is the only full caster who also gets extra attack so maybe consider that? And Smite wants you to critfish? Is this thing on?"
Weak and. Boring

Cool, thanks for clarifying that you *are* willfully spreading misinformation.

Blocked.

I kind of hate how you can't get the reaction system in the game to ask you how you want to use your Bardic Inspiration.

you can tho?
That wasn't my experience. Every time I spent it on a party member, it forced me to use the horrible toggle system Larian had in place before the reaction system. I didn't see any options to opt into the reaction system for BI.

I like bards for being skill monkeys, but just can't imagine playing that class as a leader/main character because how silly it is. This image from D&D movie immediately comes to mind:

Do not want.
Party of adventurers walk into a tavern. Landlord stops the minstrel at the door and says "After last time? You're bard."
I prefer playing (smart) evil chars and would like to try a bard but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around how to make that fit roleplaying wise... What does an evil bard do in D&D? It's like having a pop star taking over a country somehow, I just don't see that happening.
amazingly good for this game where skill checks are king

You could go Valor or Swords College and roleplay them as a ruthless veteran, manipulative commander or something of the sort. Headcanon their Bardic Inspiration as berating and demeaning their allies instead of motivating them through flowery music and song. Ditch the instrument as it's not mechanically necessary and avoid the class-specific dialogues that typecast them as happy-go-lucky musicians.

Verbal beatings will continue until morale improves.

you callin me a lyre?
College of Lore Bards are arguably the best class in 5e Tabletop so I'm sure they're going to be pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ OP in this game too.

Bard is in my opinion one of the most fun classes to play. I like the spellbook they get access to and it's easy to be the face of the party. The unique class dialouges in conversations are also usually very very funny.
