This. They pretty much answered everything except reminding you to use the same tactics when the party faces a dragon. Somebody has to distract the thing while the party raids the treasure.
You only need a donkey to distract a dragon tho.
Aren't they really the same thing, though? They both sing, dance, woo dragons and carry stuff for the party.
True that, may as well make it a human for the extra weight capacity.
Two bards so they can inspire one another :)
Bring the friendly warlock along as well for 4x short rest :p
One of the best classes form main character.
Tsk....I just make a Tiefling Bard for my 2nd playthough.
I wasn't really into Bards before playing BG3. Now it's one of my favorite classes.
But the way @Pookie01 talk about them, remind me so much of the Illusionist class from another game. Sound like a Blast to play. Totally gonna try not just bard, but all classes!
I think there's 3 basic Bard builds to play:
- Swordadin (Vengeance Pally 2/Sword Bard 10) is my choice for melee bard. You get heavy armor, a ton more spells known and prepared from Paladin, advantage to fish for crits, flourishes and smites that can be applied to crits after they are known to get top tier spike damage, extra skills, magical secrets, a well rounded spell list with buffs/heals/CC but short on damage (but that's what smite is for), spellcasting slots as an 11th level caster, Extra attack, and 2 Fighting Styles (albeit one of them from a very short list of options). I think it's the best Paladin MC that's available if GFB/BB weapon cantrips are not in.
- Lore 10/Warlock 2, for EB empowered by Agonizing and either unlimited disguise self for talkies or repelling for blasts, plus solid spells, and you don't want to spend any of your secrets on a cantrip.
- Lore 12, because it's that good and you don't want to delay any of your features or 6th level spells. Also maybe because, while low damage, Cutting Words + Vicious Mockery is a *brutal* debuff when you've got nothing better to do.
In 5e Bard is really one of the strongest casters in the whole system.
Lyre, violin, drum, flute and another….
