Cutting Words
Also at 3rd level, you learn how to use your wit to distract, confuse, and otherwise sap the confidence and competence of others. When a creature that you can see within 60 feet of you makes an attack roll, an ability check, or a damage roll, you can use your reaction to expend one of your uses of Bardic Inspiration, rolling
a Bardic Inspiration die and subtracting the number rolled from the creature’s roll. You can choose to use this feature after the creature makes its roll, but before the DM determines whether the attack roll or ability check succeeds or fails, or before the creature deals its damage. The creature is immune if it can’t hear you or if it’s immune to being charmed.
^^^^
That ish is OP af.
You get to see the enemies roll, THEN decide if u want to cutting words it.
So like, if you can deduce their +attack, and you know the targets AC…you can basically force misses instead of hits as your *REACTION and still bonus action bardic inspa on your turn
Counterspell is a -top notch- option here. Very popular choice.
This feature can be life or death kind of deal its amazing :)
Also another + being a bard you get to do all skill checks including thieving and stealth meaning you never need to bring Astarion to your team buwhahaha. Big big + imo :D
I basically dictated the fight. I force this guy to miss attack and this guy hits attack and I Counterspell this spell and I Tasha’s laughter this mob…
Total control of the fight. It’s super awesome
That’s a good question.
I expect it will work like Counterspell does
The best party is the one without Origin characters in it.
very good :p
I'm mainly asking because there are 3 different triggers that are generally going to happen every turn, while counterspell only needs to trigger on the odd enemy spell.
I'm wondering if cutting words has been changed to accomodate the triggering issue, somewhat like Warding Flare was made infinite to avoid triggering.
They do it all, so you can pick whatever party members you like and mold your bard to fill the gaps
Why is that lol?
Yea this thread solidified my choice. Too bad I go on vacation from the 4th to the 11th.
yes u can pick attack damage or save something like that. I have had attack being the most useful.
To be fair Queens need sexy time too and since the marriege was aof political reasons. She very much needed some luve.
