How is bard? Any good guides or tips?
I’ve never ever played a bard in any DND game. So upon launch I’d like to make one.

Any guides or tips? Best party makeup with a bard? Maybe a Paladin, Gale and Will? Or Shadowheart / Gale and the Fighter? Sorry forgot her name.

For reference:

Cutting Words
Also at 3rd level, you learn how to use your wit to distract, confuse, and otherwise sap the confidence and competence of others. When a creature that you can see within 60 feet of you makes an attack roll, an ability check, or a damage roll, you can use your reaction to expend one of your uses of Bardic Inspiration, rolling
a Bardic Inspiration die and subtracting the number rolled from the creature’s roll. You can choose to use this feature after the creature makes its roll, but before the DM determines whether the attack roll or ability check succeeds or fails, or before the creature deals its damage. The creature is immune if it can’t hear you or if it’s immune to being charmed.

^^^^

That ish is OP af.
You get to see the enemies roll, THEN decide if u want to cutting words it.

So like, if you can deduce their +attack, and you know the targets AC…you can basically force misses instead of hits as your *REACTION and still bonus action bardic inspa on your turn

They get a feature called magical secrets that basically says, go pick spells from any spell class you want. You get them from now on.

It’s balls deep awesome.

So like, paladins get a spell to summon a mount. Only paladins can get it.

Except for lore bards can too

Oh wow that is nuts!

I was just reading counterspell is great to have here.

Counterspell is a -top notch- option here. Very popular choice.

This feature can be life or death kind of deal its amazing :)

Also another + being a bard you get to do all skill checks including thieving and stealth meaning you never need to bring Astarion to your team buwhahaha. Big big + imo :D

I’m super biased towards Lore bard. I played one and felt the most powerful of any PC I’ve ever played. Not because I was like killing mobs and doing awesome damage - I was just in complete control in combat.

I basically dictated the fight. I force this guy to miss attack and this guy hits attack and I Counterspell this spell and I Tasha’s laughter this mob…

Total control of the fight. It’s super awesome

How does reaction system handle cutting words work in BG3?

Lore bards are sick, no doubt. They really reward creativity as a spellcaster.

That’s a good question.
I expect it will work like Counterspell does

The best party is the one without Origin characters in it.

I'm mainly asking because there are 3 different triggers that are generally going to happen every turn, while counterspell only needs to trigger on the odd enemy spell.

I'm wondering if cutting words has been changed to accomodate the triggering issue, somewhat like Warding Flare was made infinite to avoid triggering.

OP the beauty of bard is they can literally lean any direction to fill and role. Healer, melee, caster dps, caster control, support, rogue trap stealth, etc.

They do it all, so you can pick whatever party members you like and mold your bard to fill the gaps

And just remember if playing a bard to do it properly.

You are an agent of absolute chaos. When you tell the party "I'm just going to have a chat with this guy" and 6 hours later the party is being chased by the royal guard because the bard has somehow managed to bed the queen, and the heir to the throne, stolen the kings favourite horse and taught the court jester an embarrassing fact about the king

To be fair Queens need sexy time too and since the marriege was aof political reasons. She very much needed some luve.
