Has since shot up from #77 and been sitting comfortably at number 3 on the store for a while now, just behind CSGO (which is free) and the Steamdeck.

It's steam numbers, btw. Without gog, consoles and stadia.
Is vague and likely just referring to player numbers rather than sales, but who knows.
Don't have the direct links, but Steamspy, SteamDB, some articles and a few other things.
Seems an odd way to try and get them in. It's always been a bit of a niche market. Might be better off just showing them some gameplay?
1. Everyone who likes Larian games is already here
2. Everyone who likes Baldur's Gate is here
3. Everyone who likes CRPG's is here
4. Most importantly, I sense that BG3 is catching a positive viral wind which will bring in a ton of players that might not normally consider a CRPG.
Your friends won't play a game unless the entire genre is very popular? Even with your recommendation or showing them some clips? Fascinating.
The steam store has BG at #3 as others stated. If that's not enough proof that the genre is still alive, well, then your friends have to admit they have a strong bias against crpgs, lol.
