What is the current sales volume in millions?
I just saw an interview saying that they will determine the game type of the next game based on the sales of bg3, which makes me curious about the current sales

Don't think we have any current hard numbers. It apparently sold over 1 million in the first 6 days. Estimated up to 5 million on Steam alone about 7 months ago.

Has since shot up from #77 and been sitting comfortably at number 3 on the store for a while now, just behind CSGO (which is free) and the Steamdeck.

"Since releasing in Early Access, we’ve been joined by nearly 2 million of you."

It's steam numbers, btw. Without gog, consoles and stadia.

Is vague and likely just referring to player numbers rather than sales, but who knows.

Given that these are official numbers from Larian...

It has to be pretty weird presenting your sales numbers when you've been in EA for 3 years. I'm sure they've done well though.

What is the source of the data? I'm going to prove to my friends that crpg is still hot (to get them to buy BG3

Don't have the direct links, but Steamspy, SteamDB, some articles and a few other things.

Seems an odd way to try and get them in. It's always been a bit of a niche market. Might be better off just showing them some gameplay?

I predict that this game will make a TON of money. If I was the owner if the company I'd be trying to decide which color yacht to buy right now.

1. Everyone who likes Larian games is already here

2. Everyone who likes Baldur's Gate is here

3. Everyone who likes CRPG's is here

4. Most importantly, I sense that BG3 is catching a positive viral wind which will bring in a ton of players that might not normally consider a CRPG.

Your friends won't play a game unless the entire genre is very popular? Even with your recommendation or showing them some clips? Fascinating.

The steam store has BG at #3 as others stated. If that's not enough proof that the genre is still alive, well, then your friends have to admit they have a strong bias against crpgs, lol.
